Bowe's faded left overs are Lennox best wins. And Bowe that guy better and harder when he was at his best.

Bowe >> Lewis.. All day every day. The amateur fight showed exactly how Lewis would have gotten creased by Big Daddy

Which is why Bowe ran for the hills rather than defend the belt

Its called banter. Vander was winding him up , thats all. Everybody knows Lewis wormed his way out of that fight on the advise of Don King.

Newman had problems with King and Suliman. Had nothing at all to do with Bowe. Lewis knew Bowe would have battered him.

I don't think it was banter. They were all just sitting around talking about who beats who. (Bowe asks who they think would win between him and Tony Tucker.)

And Holyfield, out of left field, says what made him mad was Bowe didn't fight Lewis. And Evander won't let it go. He starts talking about the moment after Bowe beat Holyfield for the title when he walked away from Lewis.

The only reason Holyfield cares is, if Bowe fought Lewis, the title wouldn't have been split. And he (Holyfield) could've regained the undisputed title.

But Bowe dumped the belt and the title remained split for the next SEVEN YEARS. And every time Holyfield fought after losing that first fight to Bowe, he'd say postfight I'm going to keep fighting until I regain ALL the belts.

Bowe not fighting Lennox and dumping the WBC belt impacted the rest of Holyfield's career. For a guy who firmly believed in unifying titles, I can see why that pissed him off to no end ... all these years later.

That's why Evander kept fighting ... to unify all the belts. He said it a thousand times. He was originally going to retire at 30 the undefeated, unified champ. He ended up fighting until he was freaking 49 trying to win belts.

    Preposterous post.

Evanders hopes and aspirations for his own career has no bearing on anything. He couldn't even string defences together of the fragmented crown , whose he to say he was the guy to hold all the belts in the world.
This is just personal musings , nothing more. The reality of the sitiation is far more detailed than Vander wishing he was a reigning undisputed champ.
No wonder he is salty at Bowe. He ripped the crown off him as soon as he won it.

Like Evander said, Larry Donald said he'd beat Bowe and Bowe busted him in the mouth at the press conference. Lewis said he'd knock Bowe out, and Bowe started talking trash while walking away ... and then he held a press conference and dumped the belt in the garbage.

Bowe and his guys would jump anyone ... in public or private ... from Elijah Tillery, Larry Donald, Marc Roberts (Mercer's manager), Andrew Golota, Jorge Luis Gonzales, to freaking Fan Man ... But Lennox Lewis reaches up getting ready to take his headphones off and they all start walking away (while yelling). ALL of them.

Nobody was running up with a portable phone to hit Lennox over the head. Nobody was throwing water glasses at him. Nobody was jumping him from behind and grabbing him around the neck.

    They ALL walked away.

That always summed it up for me.

    Evander knows, too.

And Evander took it right back ... only it was one belt short ... because Bowe didn't fight Lewis.

That's the point. Just because you can't understand them doesn't mean we can't.

He has a win on him too and Bowe was the one who was far more damaged from their 3 fights.

Bowe is pretty delusional at the minute, he's also said that he was drugged when he got a beating from Golota. He knows deep inside that Lewis would have stopped him.

Bowe was such an articulate, friendly speaker (well, usually) back in the day, I hate to see him slur like that.

However, I put Bowe over Lewis all day through most of the 90s by knockout (McCall and Hasim had nothing on Bowe imo). In the very late 90s and early 00s it would have been a lot closer. It's just...Lewis had an incredible right hand, and during his years with Steward became much more than that; however, Bowe was just the Id unleashed. Bowe was bound to hit you sooner or later, despite his at times crude power punching delivery he eventually landed flush...I just don't think Lewis would have done so well after being on the receiving end of that right hand (especially but not just the uppercut).

I think the reality is the Lewis and Bowe were physically far better matched than Holyfield and even Hide against Bowe. The weak link would have been Lewis' chin imo, he crumpled from punchers he shouldn't have crumpled under. Lewis would have done much worse under fire from Bowe...unless Lewis got lucky early.

I really enjoy watching Holyfield and Bowe's friendship on video, it's more fun/engaging/amiable than most tv shows out there.

Hey there could be a great sitcom (documentary style, one camera) called "Bowe and Holyfield Jus' Bull-****tin'".

I do find the friendship of these men to be....well, delightful (as out of place as that adjective might seem here).

The question I have after seeing this a few times on Youtube is who would Holyfield pick since he knows he two of them as good as anyone ? AS far as they are talking, they've become old pals of sorts ... they see each other often at boxing paid promotions which is a horrific shame they both still need ..

Yeah, I wish those guys were set for life. They fought SO hard for that money. But it's like Holy said (paraphrase): here we are millionaires and we can't pick out a good lawyer?

Sometimes I think these big name boxers get really big money when they're way too young to know what to do with it. I mean, I'm just guessing, but it seems more than a few of the financial mistakes some of them made were made out of both impetuousness and just plain not listening to anyone.

There should be a retirement fund for old boxers imo.
