Sounds in a way like Evander's singing the old "the guy that didn't knock me down hit me harder than the guys that did knock me down" song.

still, I think Holyfield knows what he's talking about seeing as he fought many hard punchers in his career .

I didn't get that impression. I just think Holyfield was explaining to the simpletons out their that go... "Hey fighter A knocked him out and he conveniently says that fighter A didn't hit as hard as Fighter B."

I never heard Evander admit anything like that.

He just did on the video that was posted.

I don't see any problem with him stating that Foreman was the hardest hitter he ever faced, despite Bowe, Cooper and Toney knocking him down.

People often forget that this is possible. Sometimes the hardest hitter doesnt get the KO because he doesnt hit as often. Or sometimes the fighter he is fighting is more wary of his power and fights accordingly. Some times being lesser of a hitter means the fighter leaves himself open to a KO shot. I think most people dismiss these types of comments too often.

I agree with you. For example, Ali was knocked down by a mean left by Frazier and hurt by Shavers but still considered Shavers to be the hardest puncher he ever faced.

But, as observed quite often on this forum,lol....many a fighter has been scoffed at for precisely the same thing...praising the guy who DID NOT knock them down as the "hardest I've ever been hit", ignoring or dismissing a guy who may have dribbled him like a basketball..thereby indirectly glorifying himself in the process..why is Evander being cut the slack here? I mean, Joe Louis praised Max Baer as having "hit me the hardest", whereas Max Schmeling actually knocked him down and out...now I know that Baer actually did hit harder than Schmeling, but that isn't the issue here..it was Schmeling that hit Louis the hardest, likewise, I'm not saying that Riddick Bowe is the superior puncher to Foreman, but it was certainly Bowe's finishing shot in fight #3 vs Evander where the "Real Deal" was hit the hardest, more so than any of the shots, however massive, that Foreman hit him with. Fighter say this kind of **** all the time, and always have.

It feels like Floyd recently did this sort of thing too, when he said that the big shot that Shane hit him with in round 2 didn't hurt as much as what Judah and Chop Chop gave him...I find that pretty doubtful, but I guess he was the one in the ring, not me.

And Toney saying Sosa & Barkley hit him harder than Samuel Peter. I question that but then again like you implied, we didn't take the shots so there's no way for us to find out.

the problem with that though is we're just looking at the punches and not experiencing them... if we were to get hit with exactly the same shot that bowe and foreman hit holy with, maybe we'd know, but I don't know who seriously got hit hardest. I think holyfield would know better then either of us.
Holyfield said bowe gave him the worst beating.

By saying "we didn't take the shots" then who's to say that Bruce Seldon faked it against Tyson then? Hell, Bruce felt the wind from those missed punches, ...we didn't.

Foreman didn't hit Holyfield all that much, but he nearly took his head off with a right hand once or twice. Holyfield was visibly troubled. Against Bowe he was getting ripped consistently with less hard shots. I don't see what's so hard to believe.

You did not understand what he said. He said Peter hit him the hardest and he had that brute African power , but P4P it was Sosa.
