Joe bludgeons Holyfield to a brutal stoppage, Evander was just too easy to hit to be able to hang with The Brown Bomber.

I struggle to imagine holyfield saying that. Evander said he was fortunate to fight tyson when he was beatable, so why would he say something like that about a top 3 ATG HW?

Evander was deceptively hard to hit clean especially after his first loss and a superb counter puncher with incredible timing.

I personally believe Holyfield would dismantle Louis, his footwork would be the key to that success.

Yet sometimes he would go awol and do the exact opposite of whathe should do. Thegameplan against bowe the first time was to box. Louis could move too when he needed to, but preferred to plant his feet for power. I see it as very competitive.
Holyfield could somehow always make a fight of the year candidate wether you put him in with an ATG or a tomato can.

I might get some flack here but I don't believe Louis would be able to take the shots Bowe did and fight fire with fire.

I just got off the phone with neutral party Evan Fields, and he thinks Evander's right on the money here.

    That's news you can use.

The problem with Evander is that he was vulnerable to jab. He would either get hit by it or defend it in such a way that he couldn't get his own offense going. I do not believe he could solve the Joe Louis jab.

That's why Frazier, Maricano, and Tyson would be bigger threats to Joe Louis.

Your joking right ?? Holyfields got a monster opinion of himself. He was filmed recently next to Vitali and Vitali was asked who would've won out you two..VK was like, Evanders my idol I respect him too much to answer that. Holyfield was like "me, he couldn't in fight and that's where i'd get him"No holding back or sugar coating..I've never thought he held back how good he was, because he was special EH !

What could Holyfield actually do better than Louis, apart from take a punch?

It annoys me when people just assume fighters nowadays have better technique, nutrition, modern training etc.
This makes a difference no doubt in certain circumstances, however what is forgotten is that they are all fighters.

Fighters require heart, chin and determination. You can't tell me this improves through time.

On another note, I think Louis vs Holyfield would be an absolute dream fight.

He was extremely physically strong for his weight, even before bulking up to 215 he was actually pushing and shoving bowe and dokes back , he also moved better and was good at mauling/spoiling/fighting inside whatever you want to call it the way andre ward can.
In contrast louis hit quite a bit harder and had a better jab although evander was no slouch in either catehory either. Both had great timing on their punches, evander usually tried to time his opponents on the outside or beat them to the punch in exchanges to devastating effect like he did with dokes douglas qawi tyson and bowe.

Well if it doesnt change through time then whats the point in talking about it in a fantasy matchup? Makes more sense to look at the differences in style and advantages vs disadvantages between the fighters

Yeah Holyfield probably hurts Louis before Louis hurts him, based on the fact that Holyfield likes a brawl and would be aggressive. We've all seen what happens when you come hard at Louis.

Holy may very well win, but he's gonna have to walk through an airplane propeller to do it.
