Evander Holyfield: I'd tear Joe Louis Up

Tbh, the toughest and most physically capable people I’ve met are among the most polite, intelligent and even handed people. They KNOW what they can do, no need to talk it or exercise it unless absolutely necessary.

Yes, Louis and Holy, both great fighters, neither one needing to be unduly denigrated for the sake of giving one the edge over the other. Holy’s a tough gig for a lot of ATGs thru history IMO. I’ve said it before, but the nick, The Real Deal couldn’t have been any more apt on any other fighter.

I personally think Evander would be somewhat of a handful for prime Ali….but that’s for another time and thread, though I’d guess it’s been put up for discussion before.

 

what..? i see holyfield as a great matchup for louis. i'm pretty sure holyfield would get a knockdown against louis.. and 88 tyson too btw..

 

Rough fight for me. Ain't nobody taking either of them easily.

One advantage is see for Evander is durability.

Louis was a bigger puncher... but when did that really stop Evander? He was happy to match his durability, toughness, and work rate against bigger punchers. I can't unsee him straight up brawling with Foreman with zero fear.

No idea who would win. Toss up? Would be a fantastic fight.

 

imma tell you agian I didnt see the fight until late cause when the fight had happened i was a baby still I had seen some matches before he fought buster and seen he fought better then when i seen him fighting buster i seen he didnt fight as good that means felloff I had seen fights before that and noticed

You weren’t born when Louis was fighting either. And you will never be born into a time when these fantasy fights will ever happen.

Yet, you’re very much inclined to make calls on these fights, who wins, how and why.

You’re basing those calls on what you’ve seen of the fighters in question.

I’m not going to repeat the orig. question because you’re clearly evading it.

I agree but when Evander fought Bowe in their rematch he was 212 and heavier than Louis.

 

The HW division today has declined a bit, but they would still beat Louis's opposition with ease.

 

Pugg. I can only assume you're replying to moneytheman. I don't know as I have him on Ignore and I don't enjoy the forum any the less for it. He brings nothing. As you say, he has an agenda towards modern fighters and berates anyone who challenges that with his horrible prose.

He's not that old. Now we're getting out of lockdown - or we were - you'd have thought he'd have better things to do. So he's the kind of person whose daily highlight is arguing with people he'll never meet about something he knows nothing about and managing to be thoroughly obnoxious for quite a big chunk of every day. You wouldn't spend time with someone as sad as that in the flesh. Why do it online?

 

He's a waste of time, and obviously just a ****-starter. I've noticed too many WAY more valuable members here have given away their resources attempting to deal with moneytheclown, and it's a damn shame, as they have really valuable input.

The guy needs to be booted off the forum.

 

Ignoring will probably achieve the same, Rules. It's probably the only attention he gets. Cut it off at source and he'll find another forum about another subject. He's got a wide array to choose from. It's not like he lets having no knowledge of the subject deter him from wasting hours on it.

Well, let’s say, it’s similar to the investment in light sparring practice, in this case verbal in nature.

Nothing heavy but keeping you sharp for the potential big one if and when it comes along. The big one being a legit, albeit, civil and friendly debate.

But then you find your partner isn’t throwing back and you’re just beating him along the ropes. You’re not being pushed or making any progress in your skills. You begin to lose IQ points due to the mere exposure and association - a partial online lobotomy via social networking so to speak.

Holyfield's size, volume and persistice might really overwhelm Louis. Holyfield would take a lot of punishment, but Louis, through accumulation, would too.
