It's sad that Evander can't give up boxing. I see him getting knocked out or beat up by Klitschko, Maskaev, Chagaev, Peter, Virchis, etc.

One of these days, athletic commissions will have to take away his boxing license. He's going to get hurt bad.

I used to think that he did not have a chance but after Peter's "GREAT" performance against McCLine I have re-evaluated. Holy does have a shot to become the wbc interim champ.

Yeah he should retire, he should've done this at least 5 years ago, but c'mon nobody can force him to.

He's still in shape and went the distance with one of the beltholders a couple of months ago. And he didn't even look that bad. He still has a shot against fighters that stand in front of him (except for Toney). There are a lot of pros out there who should get their licence pulled in before him. It's just so sad because he was that great and now has become a second tier contender. Him thinking to be be a champ again is delusional tho...

Let him have one more win, against someone like Sinan Samil Sam or Ray Austin and then retire

"The tests"? The same tests that allowed Frank Bruno to fight Tyson despite a detatched retina? The fights that allowed Meldrick Taylor to fight long after he had lost the ability to speak? The tests that allowed Jerry Quarry to send himself into an early grave? Oh yeah, those are some fine tests.

Holyfield doesn't belong in a ring, he belongs in a hospital. I haven't been able to understand a word of what he says for years now.

  6. What are you guys on about? Your forgetting Evander is the real deal! Holy to be undisputed by mid 2009. You heard it here first.

  7. Holy should have retired after Toney Knocked him out 4 years ago!!! he's either got a Death wish, or refuses to find another way to make a living??:nonohe's either gonna have to stop fighting if they pull his license. like they did in Vegas and New York( that's why he has been fighting in Texas) or he's gonna end up in serious condidtion in the Hospital, with Alzieheimers??
His family and kids should tell him it's time to do something else to make Money, Retire and forget about fighting...:patsch

He can only hope for that . . . my hope is he retires now. He is putting himself in danger and He's not helping the sport . . . specifically the HWD.

i know this sounds kinda sick, but getting ktfo by wladimir or another powerpuncher in their prime might be better for his health in the long run. provided getting ktfo actually makes him retire, i've always thought that getting sparked by a single shot or a couple shots is far less damaging to your health than getting pounded for a full 12 rounds.

I thought Holyfield would do better against Ibragimov but his performance left me disappointed. He just seemed unable to do the things needed to win. If he gets another shot at a title, he might do better against a bigger opponent that doesn't move around as much but it seems unlikely.

Maybe he wants to die in the ring for the sport he loves. I scuba dive, and I want to die in the ocean. His choice, my choice.

Come and dive in parts of South Australia, with some chum in your pockets.

That should take care of that for you.

I'm going to the Great Barrier Reef in September of 2008. Can I die there? Maybe go where Steve Irwin went diving?
