Ike didn't like bodyshots, especially precise ones. The reason he went berserk and knocked out Byrd the way he did is because Chris pisse him off with some stinging bodyshots.

Remember Holyfield breaking some of Mercer's ribs and making him of all people take a knee?

Evander was off for the Bowe fight and the Moorer fights...he was having heart and stamina problems...the Evander from the Tyson/Douglas fights finds a way to beat IKE....Thing is with IKE he had mental problems...We really dont know if he could take the pressure from Evander (of NO FEAR) and it seems like he would suffer a meltdown like he did outside the ring

My pick is Evander but Ike would always have that outside chance.

First of all the moorer fights happened after his prime
and the cooper fight holyfield wasn't really sharp and motivated because Tyson had went to prison.

and just curios when have holyfield boxed when he should have brawled?

I don't fancy Holy's chances here. I don't fancy Holy v super heavyweights at the best of times let alone those who are adept inside and pretty much taking away his best weapon.

There's a chance that a peak Holy could dance on the outside potshotting but I see it turning into a brawl once Ike lands a big shot (afterall even Byrd couldn't avoid him).

I thought Holy fought even with a Bowe in the rematch and I'm not convinced that Ike is better than that version of Bowe.

Ike showed no weakness and he dispatched two of the best contenders of the 90's.

Close fight, very 50-50. I think I'd have to favour Ike if I had a gun to my head.

Holyfield would have had a tough time with Ike. Ike was a bigger version of Evander, speed and style, so he would have given any version of Evander a tough fight. Evander was a better overall technician, but I dont see this fight being anything but a war and that would favor Ike.

They were actually supposed to fight for the WBA title under King and when the fight fell through this is what set Ike off and ulitmately led to King chasing him down and putting him in that hotel room with the hooker.

can u tell more about all of this ?
It is d 1st time that i read that they were actually supposed 2 fight , with Evander being 13 years Ike's senior and all that , and 4 a belt , nonetheless , Ike deserved it 4 sure , Holyfield maybe still (back then) .

I only know d end of Ike's story with d hooker in d hotel .

Was it Ike's fault that d fight "fell through" ?

Ike is pretty much the worst case of wasted talent in the history of the division. Going head-to-head with the monster that was a young undefeated Tua and coming out on top, then being the only guy to ever pin down and KO Chris Byrd in his prime? God damn. You can't help wondering if the "Klitschko Era" would have ever happened if Ike had his head on straight.

I hate to say this, because those two great wins are still only two wins and who knows what would have happened to him if his career continued, but screw it. I'm picking Ike 60/40. Dude was a human tank when he was on, and if he can nail Byrd then Holyfield isn't dancing around him safely for 12 rounds. Sooner or later Ike will land and Evander, being Evander, will decide to engage.

Could Evander have a chance using a similiar strategy like he did with his jab in Bowe II?

After the Byrd fight, Ike wanted big fights and/or a title shot. He was unhappy with his promoter at the time (Cedric Kushner) and some of the fights that were being offered to him by Kushner (including a Michael Grant fight, which Ike turned down, resulting in Golota fighting Grant instead.) Anyway, Ike journeyed to Las Vegas intending to try and get a new, more lucrative promotional deal, and he wanted to sign with King. Then the hooker happened and that was the end of that.

Had that not happened, though, Ike probably would have been made the centerpiece of King's stable over the likes of, you know, Ruiz, Rahman & Co. Ruiz probably got the WBA shot at Holyfield only because Ike was put out of action by his legal trouble. King probably would have sought to build Ike by feeding him Holyfield, an aging Tyson, and the other heavyweights in his stable before building up to a huge unification showdown with Lewis in 2002 or 2003.

Anyway, I favor Ike over Holyfield. Holyfield always brawled when hurt or under fire. Ike's combination of physical strength, stamina, work rate, tight defense, punching power, ability to cut off the ring, and timing makes him a very tough matchup for just about anyone. I say Holyfield would have some success boxing early on, but Ike would eventually start closing the distance and trapping Holyfield on the ropes and in the corners, where he would start to grind him down. Ike by close UD or late TKO is my pick. Would be a great fight to watch though.
