I can not help but have Evander in my top P4P list. I also find it odd when I see people's P4P list Evander is excluded from them. The guy was an amazing fighter. The best Cruiserweight to ever touch the earth, and a multiple time Heavyweight king in a time when the Heavyweight champion of the world was widely considered the top athlete in the world. Why do people all seem to underrate Evander's skills? Is it because his fall from grace after the Lewis fight? Because by that time he had went through wars with Qawi, Foreman, Moorer, Tyson, Lewis, Bowe, and many more. Lets all give Evander the props he deserves!:good [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wdktE__THU[/ame]
He is all time great if we give it to him as a lifetime achievement award, like they do in Oscars. Longevity--yes. Pound for pound great, no. Great carreer, great fighter, but not all time PFP.
without a doubt, which is all the more reason since it has been years since he should've retired, even though he was robbed against valuev.
He's the master of headbutt. He got his ears bitten by Tyson because he used his head against him. He got what he deserved.
Well, he's the king of PED's... so I can't help but think about that... Seriously though, aside from his stint at cruiser, Holyfield never seemed unbeatable. His cruiser stint, while clearly the best in the divisions' history, is the tiniest bit overrated in my opinion. His opposition at heavyweight is good, but Holmes, Foreman, and Tyson X2 were all long past prime. Those are four of the six biggest names on his heavyweight resume, along with Lewis X2 whom he didn't beat. His wins over Bowe and Moorer are great, but his losses to them are more telling to me. I know it's the tail end of his career, but he has tainted his resume. Similarly to Jack Johnson and Ezzard Charles' end to their careers (I rate them MUCH higher P4P than Holyfield).
For me Holyfield is one of the dirtiest fighters in the history of boxing. He can be nothingelse!:nono
I agree with the orignal poster. If Evander had retired a long time ago we would be looking at him in a different light. The guy makes my personal top ten of all time. Look at what he did in the crusier weights and then at his size in the heavys. The guy is a Hall of famer but please retire evander because people should not even be debating this!!!
Holyfield is one of the greatest heavyweights ever.. His resume is extremely deep with plenty of quality wins, 4 times HW champ and never ducked anyone..
One of the best there ever was because he tilted his head to tuck his chin he caused a lot of butts. Dirty fight only and IDIOT would think so. He took on guys the were alot bigger than he was an won. A P4P great in my book, but I guess so of these guys would call Marvelous Marvin Hagler a dirty fighter because his head was down and he came in the same way as Holyfield. Just give credit where credit is due.
