Criminally underrated because he defeated Tyson in the 90's, Awesome fighter which was never a dull fight. Has literally fought everyone of merit for three decades 80's/90's/00's. Deserves more praise than Tyson based on his accomplishments. I'm mean what a record:

    Dwight Qawi x2
    Buster Douglas
    George Foreman
    Larry Holmes
    Riddick Bowe x3
    Ray Mercer
    Mike Tyson x2
    Lennox Lewis x2
    John Ruiz x3
    Chris Byrd

Just some of names on a great CV. Undisputed Crusierweight Champion, Four-Time Heavyweight Champion. Every Holyfield fight is a great fight to watch bar Ruiz . Another poster here summed it up well: Great Fundamentals.

Lets look at some of Holyfield's losses and close fights

    - dominated by Chris Byrd, who was destroyed twice by Wlad and dominated by one armed Vitali

    - dominated by Larry Donald, who was annihilated by Vitali (was the only man to knockdown and KO Donald)

    - dominated by Sultan Ibragimov, who was dominated by Wlad

    - KTFO by James Toney, who lost twice to Sam Peter, who was destroyed and ruined by the Klitschkos

    - drew and lost to John Ruiz, who lost to 3 Wlad victims (Haye, Chagaev, Nicholson)

    - lost twice to Lennox Lewis, who was dominated and retired by Vitali

    - lost twice to Riddick Bowe, who was destroyed twice by Andrew Golota, who was KTFO by 4 Klitschko victims (Adamek, Brewster, Austin, Lewis)

    - went life and death with Vaughn Bean, who was destroyed by Vitali (was the only man to KO Bean)

    - went life and death with Ray Mercer, who was annihilated by Wlad (was the first man to knockdown and KO Mercer)

    Wlad >>>>>>>>>> Holyfield

    Vitali >>>>>>>>>> Holyfield

    Either Klitschko destroys Holyfield.

I rank him extremely high because what he did in HW was very rare as he was most often the smaller guy, normally the HW atgs when they are most succesful are also some of the heaviest guys around.

He totally gassed before the mid rounds.
    He didn't really get robbed.

He should have kept his work rate higher to really justify the being robbed claim.

I have Holyfield along with Marciano as the two greatest p4p HW's of all time! Big fan.

I would say Patterson was p4p greater than Marciano.
Marciano was at his optimum around 185, Patterson was what we call today a smw.
But that would be without dehydration.

So in reality he would fighting as a middleweight today.

Patterson was 17 when he won gold as a middleweight. His prime fighting weight as an adult was pretty much the same as Marcianos...

He weighed 182lbs for the first johannson fight and he looked svelt! That is CW in todays terms....

In which pro fight did he weigh 160?

He was still 168 lbs in early 1955, 20 years...

Chris Byrd has also been called a blown up SMW, despite being 169 lbs just once.

If there was as much money in the lhw division as the hw division, Patterson would be known as one of the very best lightheavies ever.

But Ali was rather natural at 210 lbs.

And Patterson had to overachieve to stay around 185 lbs.

Yes, Patterson was a very good man.

Pattersons prime weight was 185lbs or there abouts, its well documented.

Anyway let's not get bogged down...

Patterson was a great fighter regardless.
