He was a dirty fighter inside and outside the ring and a well-documented steroid user (like many fighters are now, and most fighters were back then). He had a big heart, and especially at CW, his skills were exceptional, but I just can't get past his dirtiness.

I dont know why on ESB Holy is widely considered a dirty fighter. Bowe & Tyson could be ruthlessly dirty at times but dont get the same label, Lewis was no choirboy in the ring & Hopkins was worse than all of them.

Holy generally only retaliated; ie the Dokes fight, where after being hit low a dozen times he responded. I cant recall a fight of his where he deliberately went out of his way to foul anyone without provocation.

The steroid thing really isnt well documented, its all based on a journalist's claims which were never verified or investigated. I'm not saying he was 100% innocent all through his career but unlike Jones or Toney he never failed a test & he was never implicated like Mosely.
