Just watching Holyfield's pro debut, 3 rounds. The other guy across the ring had some nice skills and is really giving it a go at times. Guy is 9-1-2 with a couple of knockout wins. Nice to see a good a fighter as this challenging a amateur standout, especially in a 6 rounder. Definatly the kind of fight more pro's need early in there career's these days it seems. Holyfield's first four fights was at less than 190 pounds, I believe the limit is 190 for Cruiser and 175 for LightHeavy, so won't those have been very small cruiserweights? I'm sure they would be today, I don't know if the weights have changed at all.
The first few were at light heavy, he then moved up to cruiser, I have this fight on VHS, I have his entire career from the olympics on up. There will never be another heavyweight like him.
Very nice choice. I was considering getting it too but I've seen a few of his bigger fights plus there is a huge chunk where he is in some boring fights (from what I have heard) or fights were he shows serious decline (which would greatly upset me). Instead I went with the Azumah Nelson career set, which is a great buy.
The later stage of his career when he struggled with Ruiz, Lost to Byrd and Donald, it was sad to watch that happen to Evander. But honestly you can not go wrong with that set, when you look at Holyfield hell look at him in teh first Bowe fight even though he lost, that speed work rate chin, and heart is what boxing is all about. I truely beleive that Evander Holyfield is one of the most well schooled heavyweights in the history of the sport....
