One of the great fights of a great era right there......Qawi would say later that Holyfield's stamina surprised him. Holyfield, badly dehydrated after the effort, spent the night in a hospital with an IV pumping fluids back into him.

This fight seemed to give Holy so much confidence; he seemed twice as strong physically in efforts immediately after this fight.

I read in his book that he briefly contemplated retiring bacause of how tough the Qawi fight was on him. He must have had a change of heart:good

He's getting to the point now where his kids are probably old enough to retire from boxing, if they fought.

He would then later say (post-Holyfield steroid scandal) that he knew Holy was injecting steroids between rounds.

Qawi sounds like a joy to hang out with. He really does.

Thanks, I'm a fan of both. This fight could've gone either way as many rounds could've been even at least imo. It always makes me laugh when Qawi said, "He won 4 or 5 rounds but that's it" lol.

Eh....Qawi probably thought the judges screwed him in the second fight too.

Apparently, you didn't watch that fight or see the judges' cards. Holyfield at best only won two or three of those rounds. It was bull****. Sort yourself out, Sal.

I just never liked Qawi, what can I tell you? He looks like Eric Cartman.

Qawi really punked out the second time against Holyfield. He was always inconsistent on the effort front.

Also notable to me for being in one of the most hilarious fights ever, against old Foreman. The body type and size differences were like something out of an old cartoon parody.

I was at Holy-Qawi I, about the 6th or 7th row in the press area. One of the judges sat next to me during the prelims.

It's the best fight I've ever seen live, no question.
