I don't think Jersey Joe would KO Holyfield...

Holyfield withstood shots from much bigger/stronger fighters like Bowe, Tyson, Foreman, and Lewis.

I think Holyfield sets the pace on Walcott and wins most of the rounds with good combination punching, I'd expect Walcott to have a few good rounds and coun tpunch well but overall I see Evander taking the play away from Walcott in most of the rounds and winning a pretty clear decision or even stopping Walcott in the later rounds.

    Interesting matchup.

I like Walcott by decision. Too clever, smart footwork and sneaky counterpunching. Holyfield could be outboxed. Old man Larry Holmes had him guessing for much of their fight and Walcott was even more crafty and quicker.

A lot of Walcott's "clever" and "sneaky" moves were foolhardy and superfluous. He would have been better to stick more often to fundamentals. These giant openings he creates would be exploited by a guy like Holyfield who closed distance fast. Walcott doesn't box well enough or hit hard enough to keep Holyfield away. Barring heart attack Holyfield or old ass Holyfield, this one ends with Joe counting the lights. I would bet my house on it.

There are good cases made in each direction. It may well be Holyfield, but not without the added strength & bulk of PEDs.

    I don`t see this.

Holyfield was a beast if you came to him not so much closing the distance. Walcott would get him thinking that would be more of his kind of fight.

Whether it was an ancient Holmes setting a snails pace and mantaining it, Holyfield couldn`t really close the distance against Moorer or even Alex Stewart in their second fight in which Stewart chose to box. Holyfield won that fight but he wasn`t closing distance or creating openings the way he would need to against Jersey Joe.

I can't take you serious anymore, and I actually favor Holyfield in this match up, but this is just....

    :patsch

Basically you've reduced Walcott to a buffoon while turning Holyfiled into a killer finisher, in so many words, you see this as Moorer/Holyfield II.

Moored gave Holyfield all he could handle, considering the result, as if Moored had been just slightly more elusive and smarter, he could have come out with another win.

Walcott was faster, slicker, and smarter than Moorer.

Yeah, the big difference is that Moorer could be baited into a brawl pretty easily. Evander was able to do in the second fight, laying on the ropes, and acting hurt to get him to stop jabbing and open up.

Walcott on the other hand had to be forced into a brawl, which was very hard to do.
