If bert cooper could hurt evander badly then there is no doubt about what would happen in this fight. I did read that anyone said that holyfield was bigger than frazier?lol joe was built like a tank and he was a natural hw,being shorter he was a big boned guy he was without a doubt the man with the bigger wider frame here. Evander was longer but he had skinny frame skinny smw legs. Frazier by tko. He had more stamina,as much heart and great power
Yes yes and kelly pavlik was 6'2 and michael nunn and hearns was 6'1 and bob foster 6'3 so all them were bigger than frazier right? Jesus... JOE FRAZIER WAS NATURALLY BIGGER THAN HOLYFIELD WITH BIGGER WIDER FRAME THERE IS NO DEBATE HERE!!! The frame of the evander legs is laughable compared with joe's
Both beeing young, Joe was bigger than Evander. But the "roided" trimmed 215lb warrior Holyfield was argubly bigger than Frazier in therms of functional strength. I consider Fraziers best weight under 205.
Boxing is never this simple or shallow. If Burt hurt him badly imagine what would happen if he fought Lewis, or Old Foreman, or even 96 Tyson etc etc etc etc.
you must admit that "smokin" bert cooper tried to emulate the style of frazier in some ways so this fight should be taking in count in this fantasy fight
Joe frazier weighed 209 for the bob foster fight and he was in his peak here,he was natural he did not touch a weight, the 215 pounder evander was past his best against tyson, frazier weighed 217 against ron stander at 28 so what?, the peak hw version of evander weighed 209 pounds against george and he weighed this being a gym rat, using roids and hormone plus being 6'2 1/2 of height.. Frazier was 5'11 and he did not touch a weight and could weigh 209 looking great. The nature wanted that joe was bigger than holyfield
To be honest i don't overly rely on it. Everyone knows what Joe and Evander bring to the table. It would be a grueling war.
Holy would make it 11 and be looking really bad by that time. The ref stops it after Holy goes down twice.
Care to compare Holyfield's performance against Foreman to Frazier's? It isn't like Foreman didn't catch Holyfield flush. He did multiple times. He didn't even knock him down, whereas Foreman nearly killed Frazier. Point being, these comparisons against other opponents aren't great. Truth, I have no real idea what would happen in a Frazier vs Holyfield matchup. It would end up in a brutal war. Instant classic. Wish I had a time machine to make it happen.
The difference here, IMHO, head to head, is styles again. Holyfield was a Boxer/Puncher, who also had a decent inside game. Frazier was more a one dimensional Pressure Fighter, and a great one at that. Evander was more versatile and would present different looks to Joe. I'd look for Evander to come out swinging in the first round, similar to how Quarry did in his first fight with Joe...BUT a healthy Evander wouldn't have gassed afterwards. I'd expect to see Evander win the first 2 (most probably 3) rounds (showing Joe he could fight inside, too) and then the fight would settle in pretty even from there, Evander switching styles, inside, outside, as the fight demanded. I could see Evander going after Joe one more time later in the fight, especially if Joe manages to nail him with a big left hook. With both men exhausted at the end, I could see this going the distance, with Evander winning the 12 round decision, something like 116-113, or 115-113 (If Joe rallies to win the 12th). Neither of these guys had any quit in him!
