I think Holyfield was well-rounded enough to give Louis all kinds of problems. Could he beat him? I think so. But if I had to put money down it would probably be on Louis, for the reason that many have pointed out. Holy liked to bang with guys, and while he has the better chin I don't think he hits harder or faster than Louis. Louis was the wrong guy for Holy to go to war with imho.
I could def see evander winning a decision against louis. Louis fought in an era where a lot of guys stood right in front prime evander floated in and out. Evander by close decision.
Holyfield would outbox him, far better feet and faster hands, he would outjab him and and when he would trade with him he may taste a few hard punches and realise that isn’t a good idea and go back to boxing, if he doesn’t stand still, he wins comfortably
Evander Holyfield is a fighter who I would give a chance against beating Louis. So who wins it? I’m honestly not sure but I might slightly favor Joe
Holyfield was tough enough, and versatile enough, to give anybody problems, but my money is on the bomber here. Louis has advantages in certain key areas, where Holyfield probably can't afford to be at a disadvantage. He fought a lot of harder punchers than himself, but he was usually able to offset it with some sort of advantage in speed or technique.
So what? Louis never had such problems in his prime and he didn't lose to someone as underwhelming as Moorer.
This is where I have to question why the hell boxing fans see such radically different things. Holyfield did not have faster hands than Louis. In fact, Holyfield was never very fast at all with his hands. Maybe on the low end in that area for an all time great. He was accurate and could throw a reasonably quick counter, but that's it. Louis arguably was the fastest combination puncher in the history of the division.
He isn't, but Louis simply ain't good enough and would get the **** beat out of him. He's too flat footed and slow.
