Power definitely goes to Louis, I’d say they’re even with speed since both were very quick heavyweights but Holyfield had much quicker feet.

Boxing ability goes to Holyfield, his foot speed allowed him to be a much more diverse fighter while Louis was limited to slow stalking. Holyfield was also much better defensively.

Ring IQ, yea you could give that to louis since Holyfield had a habit of gong into fights with some ridiculous game plans, but when Holyfield was focused his ring IQ was just as high as anyone’s.

Jab, yea you could give it to Louis since his was heavier, but both had good jabs.

Holyfield also had a much better chin and has wins over better opponents

Louis' power, hand-speed, defence and ring IQ are easily higher than Holyfield's. It shouldn't even be up for debate. Holyfield has better foot-speed, a better chin, and was more agreeable to infighting. Another three things which shouldn't be up for debate. All-round skills is pretty close, but just in terms of technique and balance; weight transference and putting 'em together, it's Louis all the way. Holy has a better array of offensive counters, but Louis had a much better jab, ergo, he didn't need them.

    Louis KO or TKO.
It would be a gruelling fight.
Louis would have a fight on his hands but he would get Holyfield out of there eventually.

People's image of Louis is so overly based on a shot to bits Louis.

Prime Louis wasn't at all a plodder.

His foot speed was never even close to Holyfield’s level

Neither fighter was ever off balance, and what makes Louis’ defense better than Holyfield’s?

Louis' balance is part of what let him throw such deadly combos. Holyfield's was good, but he couldn't do what Louis did in that regard. When he did, he ended up off balance (see Bowe I, when throwing the series of left hooks)

I’d say Louis just had a punchers flow, probably the best in the sport, but it was extremely rare for Holyfield to be off balance. Also what makes Louis’ defense better than Holyfield’s?
