Forgot to mention that in a tough fight, Holmes too had an incredible fighting heart... I am not sure that Holy could have recovered from that bomb that Shavers landed on Holmes... Larry Homes maybe THE most underated heavyweight of all time...
Holmes gave Holyfield problems when he was past his best... Prime for Prime imho he would ud Holyfield...too fast, that educated jab,and ring generalship would be too much... Holyfield would be game though.
Someone on this thread said that they felt Holmes beat Holyfield in 1992, and frankly I don't know which fight they were watching.. Granted Holmes was older than dirt and on the comeback trail, but he lost that fight handedly and I can't think of anyway to argue otherwise.. prime for prime Larry wins this by way of outboxing Evander the distance, but it wouldn't be an easy fight.. Evander was not as tenacious in their actual meeting as he was in other fights, leading some to believe that if Holmes was prime, he would have killed him, but this wasn't an aggressive Holy either.. At times those two were even laughing and toying with each other... Larry struggled with far worse fighters, and while I'd pick him to triumph over the real deal, it would always be a tough fight.
Holmes does. I don't think it would be all that close. I believe Holmes would take eight or nine rounds.
