Have at it, especially if we are talking about an undefeated Lewis which you said you would rank between 10-20. So presumably given this 2 KO losses, he's not even top 20 now in your books..
I don't think Marciano had the kind of comp Lewis did, the number of title defenses, nor the longevity.
So as a baseline, an undefeated Lewis would rank no worse than 3 on the ATG list would you agree with that? If so, and we factor in that he lost two but avenged both losses, how would you factor this into the equation..and which fighters would jump over him as a result?
I rank Jeffries, Johnson, Dempsey, Tunney, Louis, Marciano, Liston,Ali, Foreman, Holmes, Holyfield and Vitali klitschko above Lewis.
You're missing at least 7 fighters since you said he's not in your top 20. Presumably he's ranked 13 in your eyes. And how you can rank Vitali, Tunney and Jeffries above him is a mystery to me. I think you're just pulling names out of a hat. no Tyson, or Frazier is surprising
Lost to them and destroyed one in the rematch..so this has to be put into perspective. Ali lost to Spinks and won in the rematch at about the same age, Lewis lost against Rahman, so is that relevant too? Holmes lost twice to another Spinks as well, at about the same age as Lewis was loosing to Rahman. So why is only one of these fighters looked down upon when he was the one fighter who most emphatically won in the rematch?
This is a valid argument. One thing that gets forgotten in the Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis debate, is that there isnt that much overlap between their primes. I would say that Lewis was the greater heavyweight champion, but Holyfield was the greater fighter.
That actually works for me fine, especially coming from someone who thinks Mayweather would beat Duran.
