2 of those losses were to Bowe, a big fast Heavyweight who could fight both from distance and in close.
I doubt Ali would do any better than what Holyfield did vs Bowe.

The other loss was to Michael Moorer in a fight well docomented Holyfied was ill in. Holyfield later avenged that loss by KO!

Ali's first 3 losses came to Frasier, Norton, and Spinks.

I dont think Holyfield loses to either of those fighters but I do think Ali may lose to Bowe who was somewhat of a bigger version of himself only with more dimensions than Ali.
Bowe was a better infighter than Ali.

I do rank Ali over Holyfield but not as much as some do. I have Ali #1 and Holyfield #3 among the best HWs ever.

Holyfield was 18-0 (14) overall, 6-0 (5) in World Title Fights, and 3-0 (2) vs. Hall of Famers prior to his first HW fight. He had won a World title in just his 12th pro fight. Had he won 10 or even 20 more fights at this point, would it have made a difference? Holyfield fought good fighters pretty much from the start of his career, no padding on his resume. All 18 of these fights were over 175 Lbs. (even though his first couple of fights were considered LHW fights).

He fought good HWs right away. James Tillis was not a top HW and he was past his prime but he was good for a HW debut. He had gone the 10 round distance with Tyson and he had lost a close 15 round decision to Weaver for the WBA HW title. It took 8 rounds for Thomas and 8 rounds for Page to stop him. It took Bruno 5. Witherspoon had pulled the trick inside of 1 round. Tillis was considered a good test. Holyfield stopped him inside of 5 rounds and had an easy time doing it.

In Holyfield's 2nd HW fight he fought Pinklon Thomas. Thomas had been stopped inside of 6 rounds by Tyson in his previous fight. Holyfield stopped him in the 7th round and had little trouble doing it.

In Holyfield's 3rd HW fight he fought Michael Dokes who was rated as high as #4 in the World. Had Dokes beat Holyfield he would have fought Tyson next. Holyfield stopped a well prepared and very determined Dokes in the 10th round and was now considered the #1 HW contender... but he would have to wait another 19 1/2 months for a shot at the HW World Title.

After 10 HW fights Holyfield was 10-0 (8KO) at HW, 4-0 (2) in HW World Title Fights, and 2-0 vs. Hall of Famers during this 10 fight stretch. He did way more in these 10 fights than many guys do in their entire careers.

So, at this point he was 30 years old... he was 28-0 (22) overall, 10-0 (7) in World Title Fights, and 5-0 (2) vs. Hall of Famers. All of these fights were over 175 Lbs.

He eventually won 6 more World Title Fights at HW (plus 2 draws) and went 2-0 (1) vs. Hall of Famer Mike Tyson. Sure, he lost some... some of those losses were close or even bvllshlt! Some losses he deserved... but he was 137 years old in some of these fights!

He beat more Lineal HW World Champs than anybody including Ali or Louis. Douglas, Foreman, Holmes, Bowe, Moorer, Tyson x2, and Rahman. He also drew with Lineal HW Champ Lewis. This list is more impressive than Sharkey, Schmeling, Carnera, Baer, Braddock, and Walcott (Louis' list). Ali beat Liston x2, Patterson x2, Frazier x2, Foreman, and L. Spinks. I think Holyfield's and Ali's lists are very comparable.

    Guys, it's about styles here.

Holy just never looked that good when he was forced on to the attack, and had to go looking for his man. ****, he looked bad when fighting an over-the-hill Czyz, let alone Holmes.
He looked great against Bowe, Dokes and Tyson because they stood right in front of him. His fast hands, ability to counter and combination punching stood him in good stead there.
Holy just never looked great or really comfortable when being the hunter. Ali isn't going to stand in front of Holy and trade punches.

If norton could give Ali all he could handle.. I think Holy would do the same.

Their 10 round bout in 1923

The bout was supposed to be for Greb’s middleweight title, but the champion showed up eight pounds over the 160 pound weight limit and Loughran was eight and a half pounds too heavy.

Tunney had exposed that Greb was susceptible to body shots. Loughran saw that attack and copied it for his Christmas day bout with Greb, giving him trouble throughout the fight. Regis M. Welsh, who covered the bout, noted that Greb seemed to be losing a step as fighter.

Yet, Welsh was most critical of Loughran’s seemingly lack of a fighting heart. He wrote that Loughran did not attack Greb with the relentlessness needed to win nor did he fight his way out of tough situations. It was most apparent in the ninth round when Greb had Loughran in a corner raining punches down on him. Loughran would not fight back and the referee would not stop the fight, so Greb backed away, dropped his hands, and invited Loughran out of the corner. The crowd laughed and Loughran offered his hand. As Welsh put it, “the affair, for the moment, became a lovely Christmas party.”

In the end, Greb won a 10-round decision. While the referee’s round scoring was not announced, Welsh gave Greb five rounds and scored two rounds even.

So the score of 5-3-2 indicates a competitive bout.
