Evander Holyfield vs Roy Jones at Cruiserweight

Holyfield was a little on the small/frail side as a cruiser...Jones toys with him and drops him twice in rounds 8 & 9 before the ref stops it on cuts in the 10th.

 

Gotta go with Holyfield.

Jones' only near prime fight at that weight was his decison over Ruiz.

Prime Cruiserweight Holyfield was a beast.

Jones would have his moments and probably win the early rounds but i think Holyfield would catch up to him.

 

Jones was at his best at the lighter weights. Holyfield is probably too much for him.

 

Jones starts great but Holyfield too big, to technically sound and just too good at that weight.

 

Someone with very fast hands could give Holyfield a lot of trouble as Dokes did before he finally caught him in the later rounds. Previous to that Holyfield was being totally outpointed.

Jones wouldn't be able to keep up with Evadner's work rate.

A young Evander was non-stop for the full twelve.

 

That was a great fight I disagree that he was being totally outpointed but I havent watched it in forever. Dokes was a seasoned heavyweight with a totally different style. Evander would pressure Jones with his workrate and eventually Jones legs would tire and Evander would unleash his great combinations I don't see Jones lasting.

 

Holy wins by brutal KO, and I think Roy was an ATG at 168-175. But at 190 (is
this correct?) Holy is too much for him. Don't let Roy's win over Ruiz muddy your
thoughts, a prime Holy wins.

 

Jones was far more frail than the always tough Holy, Jones was knocked out by light heavies if Holy catches him right he`d knock him out cold at cruiser.

 

I think you may be right about Jones legs getting tired like Connor Roy gave too much space when an opponent came forward this could tire him out but I think he would rest on the ropes but he was more open on the ropes and was better countering in the center of the ring.

 

A prime, cruiserweight Holyfield has far too much for Jones. Jones would likely present some problems early on with his speed but Holyfield wouldn't stop coming to him. Holyfield by stoppage, by round 7.

 

Holyfield by KO. Cruiserweight is not a good weight for Jones.
