Roy Jones before the Ruiz fight had the aura of invincibility about him.
Just like Jeff Fenech before Azumah Nelson and Tyson before Douglas.
Jones Jr at CW would find his Nelson or Douglas in Holyfield.
Jones would be dragged into a rough night and Holyfield would ko Jones
    late.

Jones was 1 of the most physically gifted fighters in history. But he never faced anyone with the physicality and determination of prime Holyfield. Holyfield at that weight was a machine. And could bring the heat all night long. Jones for yrs was able to hide the fact he didn't have a great or good chin for that matter because he was almost untouchable. But too think in a 12rd fight that prime Holyfield wouldn't be able to catch him sooner or later is crazy. Esp at 190lbs. Figure Jones to win early, but by the 5th or 6th rd, Holyfield begins to land cleanly, By the 8th or 9th rd, against the ropes being cute, Jones gives Holyfield the opening he needs, Holyfield exploits that opening, and it good night time for Mr.Jones. Holyfield wins by knock out.

Someone with very fast hands can give anyone trouble.

You need to start rewatching these fights. Holyfield was well ahead on all three cards. Dokes never fought at Cruiser in his professional life let alone years after he had been Heavyweight champion.

It was a great fight that one.

True about Dokes, but Holyfield wasn't always fighting at HW.

    Evander fought at

Since Dokes was not a big HW and Evander had fought at cruiser, and the human mind isn't an infallible copying machine and tends to relegate unessential data to the somewhat blurred-memory junk pile unless such it is meticulously and constantly kept fresh via revision-the mistake isn't as drastic as it might seem to those unfamiliar with HF's career.

Dokes was far from a small heavyweight too. 6'3 with a 78" reach and 225 pounds.

Indded, also because he avoided the ones he might not have looked untouchable against.

Reall? He sure looked like a small chubby HW on that screen to me. Well, maybe it was an optical illusion. He also looked tiny when sparring with Ali. Strange! What's the source of your stats?

The stats are all over the internet. Dokes was 19 when he sparred Ali and filled out significantly afterward.

I searched the internet fighter statistics sites and Dokes' weight isn't mentioned. Only his height and arm-length and that he was a HW is provided the physical description.

Holyfield all day long. RJJ would do well against the more static CWs but Holyfield had great movement, punch variety and was relentless. Not the biggest puncher but wouldn't need to be to dismiss RJJ.
