I can't really disagree with this sentiment! The heavyweight division has always been a joke, for as long as it has ever existed. Just that since 2000 and until now, it's been slightly less of a joke than the overrated eras that preceded.

Overrated hypejob? Although he had decent skills that I, as a god of combat, have come to admire. However inefficient they may have been.

Truth be told, Tyson is a fake heavyweight by modern standards. He wouldn't qualify as a legitimate / credible heavyweight today against the real elite super heavies.

 

Holyfield is Tyson’s daddy was my point. Holyfield is a pound for pound great. Anybody says otherwise doesn’t know boxing.

 

And I'm meant to be impressed because? So what if Holyfield was Tyson's daddy and was better than Tyson? Why are you seemingly under the impression that I rate Tyson that highly, to the point where being better than him is meant to mean anything to me?

Anyone worth their salt is better than Tyson these days. Tyson is essentially a poor man's Povetkin, who himself has a lot to be desired as well from a technical standpoint.

Holyfield's greatness is clouded by his over consumption of artificial substances which turned him into a totally unnatural being. Thus, his actual combat skills have to be SEVERELY questioned as a result. Who are we dealing with here? Holyfield or Evan Fields?

 

Holyfield is all wrong for Jones. All wrong.

There’s never been one. Tyson has the highest body mass index I’ve ever seen on a boxer (excluding the fat ones).

I think Roy Jones wins, preferably at cruiserweight. I think Roy Jones can emulate a bit of what Chris Byrd and Toney did. Holyfield main problem seem to be against opponents that moves well.

 

Holyfield from 90-92 was a beast, he'd knock Jones the **** out.
In fact, so would the 86 CW version.

 

IMHO, the version of Roy who beat Ruiz would have beaten the versions of Evander who fought Ruiz and Tony.

Prime for prime, you're talking about a great CW-HW vs a SMW.

Of course a prime version of Evander would have won.

What the TS is referring to, was when Roy flew out to Atlanta in early 1998 with his advisor to discuss a possible fight. At that point in time, Evander wasn't interested, as he thought that he was in a no-win situation. But he did say that if Roy accomplished something at the weight he would fight him.

They then negotiated again in 2003, this time with actual figures etc. But Roy's advisor, Murad Muhammad, got greedy along with Don King, and King wouldn't pay Evander money that he owed him from a previous fight.

Evander would have made more fighting Roy on HBO, than he what he made for fighting Toney, but he chose to fight Toney instead out of principle.

Evander's attorney, Jim Thomas, has confirmed the above in his autobiography.

 

Depends on the weight. If they fought at CW or HW I would go with Evander. But I would go with Roy at LHW, on points, assuming Evander could even go there.
