Why doesn't this fight happen? Even now after the primes its still an interesting match and would be an entertaining fight.

Because Evander would take Roy's head off.

    you're right...it makes no sense.

bernard hopkins v roy jones is about the only remotely interesting fight to see jones in...even nearly 10 years too late

what does the winner gain???...and the loser looks like an idiot....if jones get beat he will look like a fool seeing evander is so old and if evander gets beat he will look like a fool seeing jones is so small and past it

This fight was very close to happening about 8-10 years ago. It would still be a compelling match. Two all time greats who are evenly matched, come into the bout in great shape and would give it everything to win.

Unless Evander has improved in his last few fights he can't pull the trigger and Jones is still decent at pot shotting and covering up. Obviously in his prime this would be a very different question, but I just can't imagine even today's Roy being unable to get out of the way of Holyfield's seldomly thrown punches.

It was bad enough watching Toney mug Holyfield.

    I disagree but whateer.

Roy has no legs whatsoever, goes on the ropes,he would get flattened.

Either way this fight has no purpose or logic and won't happen.

Jones would pot shot to a boring win today, Holyfield cant pull the trigger anymore even though he did beat Valuev IMO he just didnt show me that he should continue fighting.

Now if we are talking a prime cruiser weight Holyfield vs The Roy Jones who fought Ruiz, that is a ****ing war, but I think Evander takes the fight, this is also depending on what circumstances they fight under if its a 15 rounder Holyfield stops him for sure, but I dont even think that version of Holyfield would need a full 15 much less 12 to knock out Jones.

...Evander gets a needed payday....Jones keeps the career going against a high profile name and the fans are entertained. As far as looking like an idiot can I name many and numerous boxers who have looked like idiots in fights.

Actually if you think about it logically this fight would make perfect sense.

Any Prime version of Holyfield Cruiser or Heavyweight would walk right through any Prime version of Jones and KO him. Jones brings NOTHING to the table Evander did not see. Jones would most likely be on his bike and still get KOed.

Nah. Holyfield has always had trouble with fighters who don't want to rumble. While I would favor Prime Holyfield, Prime Jones' fast legs could keep him in a fight.
