Loughran sticks to the script and outpoints Evander over 15, though not without Holy having his moments..it's just that he rarely, if ever fought a guy who had zero interest in slugging it out, who could move and jab all night long. Evander would corner and trap Loughran from time to time, but I think Tommy steals this one.

Tommy too cute for an opponent who relies on his chin for some of his defense.

Anyway, Cruiserweight Holy of '86 Qawi I to '88 De Leon takes a decision over 12 or 15 here.

Real Deal is consistently underrated in the classic, when matched against old-timers.

on any given night, evander beats any heavyweight to step in the ring. loughran was a great, great fighter but he's way too small for this matchup. evander by stoppage in the mid rounds.

I kind of suspect that Loughran has a chance aginst anybody with a reach of less than 80'' or a height of less than 6' 4''.

Styles seem to favor Mr. Loughran here, but how many pounds is Mr. Holyfield allowed to have? I'd give the Bowe version an edge.

So you give the natural Light Heavy Loughran a good chance against Liston, Tyson, Foreman & Frazier too?

Tommy had his share of big scalps. Max Baer, Ray Impellitiere 2X, and Campolo were among his victims. The Phantom was no Bob Foster when it came to tackling the big boys. Braddock was the same height as Evander, and also had a longer reach than Tommy, yet Loughran looked almost like he was shadowboxing his upstart challenger, who squashed Slattery in nine en route to his LHW Title shot.

Good chance might be putting it too strongly, but he would have given all of those guys fits.

After fighting primo Carnera, I don't think an Evander Holyfield would be considered "too big" for Loughran.

Please explain why you think this?

What makes non-tall great Heavyweights have so much trouble with Loughran in your opinion & why are tall Heavyweights like the Klits fine? :think

Tyson and Frazier would destroy Tommy, in my opinion. I can see him giving a good account against Liston and Foreman though.

Loughran is in many ways the ultimate master boxer. Not just in the same way as sombody like Gene Tunney. He can think outside the box.

If you have a limited advantage over him in terms of height and range, then you are living in his world. You are going to get drawn into a chess match.

A guy like Wladamir can keep him on the end of the jab and make it hard for him to set up his chess board. When he gets inside he will not have time to execute too many moves.
