I think that right hand to the temple really rang Gene's bell. Tunney's left was fully extended, and the momentum from his missed jab really carried him into it. He doesn't ride with it, rather the force from Jack's counter drives his head back. From there, Dempsey's natural instinct takes over, knowing when a man is hurt.

I guess I'll be the last one to post on this subject but let me say that Evander would probably do a number on Loughran once he realizes that Tommy can't hurt him. Holyfield would then turn up the heat and really pour it on. I see Holyfield stopping Loughran late in the fight...Say around the 10th or 11th round. Too physical a presence for Loughran.

Bump cuz it’s an interesting fight, I got Evander due to sheer size and workrate. Loughran would make it interesting though

If Holy didn't get caught up following Loughran in a straight line and leaping in he'd mangle him in the end. Too precise a technical puncher and able to counter in combination while also using his size and strength. He might get lead around and pecked at for a bit if he took time off as he sometimes could but I think his handspeed, accuracy and timing would be a nasty shock for Loughran trying to slide away while fencing off the back foot with his chin in the air.
