Very bad style matchup for Wilder. Wilder can't fight on the inside, and he has no tools to keep Holyfield away. Early KO win for Holy.
Wilder would definitely land something on Holyfield. Bowe and even old Foreman hit him several times.
This. Bowe and Lewis had a full arsenal of tools to fight Holyfield with on the inside and knew how to use their frames to their advantage to wear Holyfield down. When Wilder was getting bullied on the inside by Fury he kept looking at the ref for help. If Wilder thought Fury was dirty I can’t imagine what he’d think about all of the elbows and headbutts that Holyfield would be sneaking in on him. Holyfield is all wrong for Wilder.
Difference in skills and boxing IQ would be immense. Wilder is big guy but he doesn't posesses the skills of Bowe or Lewis. Plus Holyfield had granite chin (went 24 rounds with Lewis, 14 rounds with Tyson and 12 rounds with Foreman without going down), had great stamina, accuracy and workrate in his prime. Holyfield by stoppage
Holyfield via a TKO win. Holyfield was very skilled on the inside and knew all the tricks of the trade. Wilder would be easy work for him there.
I see Wilder sticking out his jab half-heartedly once, Holyfield dodges it, then Wilder is unable to tie Holyfield down on the inside and is helpless against left and right hooks which come flying in from mid-range. Wilder has neither the jab nor the ability to tie down and lean on Holyfield (like Wlad would have done).
Wilder was exposed by Fury. He can't beat top fighters as long as they pressure him. If they give him space he has a chance to land a lucky punch.
Holyfield would control all rounds and probably win by UD unless Wilder would land a lucky punch and knock Holyfield out...
Holyfield by UD but i wouldnt rule out a stoppage Evander could bang for a guy that started out in CW
Holyfields boxing IQ hovers somewhere in the Stratosphere while Wilders lingers in the LA smog. I can't think of many worse match ups for Wilder to be honest. Holyfields inside game and rough house tactics would take Wilder off his stride almost from the first bell. We've seen Holyfield get down in the trenches so many times and come out on top. Apparently Wilder has a warriors heart, if that's the case, Holyfield has the heart of a warrior God! There is such a disparity in levels it's almost comical.
