Not a tag team match or anything silly, I'd just like to hear about how you think a prime Evander would do against these at times unsung contenders.
Eddie Machen was kayoed by Ingemar Johannson on Sept 14 1958, in Gottenburg Sweden, in round 1, Zora Folley lost to the likes of Doug Jones, Sonny Liston, Muhammad Ali, Ernie Terrell and drew with Karl Mildenberger in 1964, but has a decision win over a young Oscar Bonavena. Evander would score a decision win over a slick Machen. Holyfield would stop a game Folley in round 6.
Ingo's power is quite legendary and even then that KO was quite the eye brow raiser no? A strange moment for the usually durable fighter.
I think it's fairer if you use cruserweight Holyfield. But I'm picking Holyfield to emphatically dominate Fun fact up until the age of 37 Holyfield had beaten every man he faced as a pro. Holyfield was also a student of George Benton
Heavyweight Holyfield stops Folley and wins a convincing decision over Machen. Post Qawi 1 CW Holyfield stops Folley in an epic toe to toe war but gets rocked and maybe put on ***** street (remember, Folley did rock and back up Sonny Liston, no reason he couldn't do the same to a 187-190 Pound Holyfield and Holyfield didn't hit hard as Liston, especially CW Holyfield so this fight lasts longer). At CW, Machen would have been a stern test but I see Holyfield prevailing still.
I think Holyfield wins but I think some are under appreciating the quality of fighters that Machen and Foley were. Holyfield struggled with the smaller guys who could fight. Can def see Foley taking 1 of 3. Machen ehh idk. I’d actually pick Harold Johnson to give Holyfield a run for his money. He didn’t take well to defensive fighters.
