Clearly using the top of his head was part of Holyfield's arsenal. I don't think there is much debate to it. He's a dirty fighter, always has been dating back to his amateur days where he was one DQ"d for biting.

" Winners adjust; losers make excuses. " Yes, but when the winner if cheating to win, the onus os on the official to dock points for head butting, which is the easiest way to create cuts in boxing, and is something that isn't always shaken off. Some fo these fouls were clearly planned. Tyson has a right to complain. Did it change the outcome of the fight? Probably not, but it helped Holyfield win easier. To win, everyone knows Tyson had to advance forward. Holyfield getting low then crashing the top of his head ( hardest part of the body ) into Tyson's face was a planned way for him to stop and deter Tyson from advancing. The cost of doing it was cuts and butts. Illegal. This is boxing, you don't score with your head.

It’s not illegal to duck your head under a punch. You’re not obligated to take the punch instead or keep your head out of his way when he’s coming forward “because everyone knows he has to come forward to win.”

Head butts are not illegal. INTENTIONAL head butts are illegal. If Tyson doesn’t come forward he doesn’t end up butting heads with Evander. If Tyson comes at an angle he doesn’t butt heads with Evander. If Tyson keeps the crown of his head in the collision zone (as Evander did) he doesn’t get cut over the eye.

Literally all Evander did in the film is duck a punch and end up colliding heads with Tyson when Tyson’s head came forward ... and in the other clip stop retreating and Tyson kept coming forward and they banged heads.

So you’re saying Evander has to keep going backwards in one instance and not duck the punch in the other because it was in the path of Tyson’s forward-moving head.

    That’s nuts.

Who said anything about ducking being the problem? Lowering your head and ramming the top of it into the opponent's face multiple times is the issue. It is part of Holyfield game. Tyson being short with a limited reach, had to come forward. Holyfield planned these butts to hurt Tyson, with his heads, not with his gloved fists. Tyson didn't know they were coming.
    • I'm saying Holyfield could duck and come back with a punch.
    • I'm saying he could time Tyson coming in with a punch.
    • I'm saying he could tie Tyson up legally or use his uppercut.
Instead, he ducked and sprung forward with the top of his head as a weapon. That's not boxing. He knew what he was doing.

I fail to understand why your defending Holyfield here? Are you saying such tactics should be legal in boxing??? If it were, there would be a planed counter to it, charge me with the top of your head head and I'm pushing it face down into the mat with my weight on it. Suddenly it's not boxing by the rules anymore.

Holy's guilty, and its not a 1 fight type of thing.

I’m saying nothing he did was illegal. He did not propel his head forward ... he held his ground and ducked a punch and Tyson came careening right into him. And have you watched the fights? Are you telling me Holyfield never made Tyson miss and countered? You think it was a series of head butts that beat Tyson down and there were no punches involved?

In the first 30 seconds of the fight, Tyson throws like three or four left hooks and Holy ducks under each one of them the exact same way. He lowers his head to keep his own face/eyebrows out of the contact zone. He counters twice. There is no resultant head butt because Tyson didn’t recklessly crash in. Later he got more careless.

And if we’re going to talk dirty fighting, let’s examine Tyson ... trying to break/wrench his opponent’s arm, following the hook and the right with blatant elbows, BITING HIS OPPONENT’S EAR OFF. Yeah, you really are against dirty fighting haha.

Holyfield was the master of head butts, but Andre Ward was the KING of headbutts.

I think Tyson is dirty too. You are confusing defense with head buts, and blaming Tyson. This was planed by Holyfield. Just admit it, Holyfield used his head as a weapon often. Everyone else sees it here.

You probably the only person here who accuses Tyson of being butted and cut on his face, as Holyfield rams him.

It’s called fighting :duh Holyfield had part of his ear bitten off but was still prepared to carry on fighting. You hit Holyfield after the bell, he’d punch back. You hit him low, he’d return the favour etc etc

Let's assume he was a headbutt master, it must be said in his career he was robbed more than many other fighters. His karma is balanced imo
