Evander Holyfield

As mentally tough as anybody, good chin, great recuperative powers, superb combination puncher. Very fertile. Great fighter who should have retired over.a decade ago.

 

Hell of a fighter he was. He had that SENSE in the ring. His chin was unreal. Was in some kind of shape in his younger years. Was not fancy, did not show off, was plain and simple. He was not reckless but had very little fear of being hit. So little his timing could destroy other fighters alone.

Dont ever get him mad in the ring at you. Rather than throw him off he becomes super human. A REAL fighter. Maybe not the BEST fighter there ever was but he was one of the BEST ever.

I wouldnt fight him.

 

On the whole, I think he's underrated. Still. He was really, really great.

Top ten HW for me. One punch KO'd Douglas. Stopped Tyson. Beat a former and future champ in the still very good Foreman. Has a win over Bowe,Moorer etc

And when he was past his prime he beat Rahman and Mercer and gave Lewis tough fights.

Not to mention doing better than Haye against Valuev at almost 50 years old.

Chin,heart,speed,counter punching,decent power.

 

my thoughts about him always come around to all the wrongs that happened the night he fought valuev.

he was robbed of his place in the highlights of boxing history by being the oldest heavyweight champ ever and also a 6 time world champ, 5 of them heavyweight titles....and having won his first world title in 1986 it would have made a 2008 victory over valuev an unprecedented 22 years between world titles !!

holyfield took that defeat and all that was robbed from him that night (a lot) like a champ

but even more than that, it could have damaged him, because i believe holyfield would have retired contented after that night having achieved his goal, but he continued on, and its a shame really.

what one bad descision by judges can do.

 

I thought he was the best heavyweight of the era. Should have retired for good in 1999 at the latest.

Terrific combination puncher, excellent accuracy, great hand speed in his prime, the iron will of a champion, great chin.
An absolute beast really.

 

#6 HW, for me. He was made of iron and grit. And...other...plutonium and...things...of that nature.

 

He was something else. A very exciting fighter who could do it all.

Top 5/10 of all time @ HW and the best CW of all time as well.

He went 18-0 (14) overall at CW and 6-0 (5) in World Title fights. He unified the IBF, WBA, and WBC belts. He beat Hall of Famers Qawi x2 and DeLeon. He also beat Ocasio, Parkey, Booze, and Tillman among others.

He went 10-0 (8KO) overall at HW and 4-0 (2) in World Title fights. He won the unified title by beating Douglas. He also beat Thomas, Dokes, Foreman, Holmes, Tillis, Rodrigues, Stewart, and Cooper among others.

So, at age 30 he was 28-0 (22) overall, 10-0 (7) in World Title Fights at CW and HW, and 5-0 (2) vs. Hall of Famers.

Past age 30, and over the last 20 years, he has gone 16-10-2 (7) 1NC in 29 fights. He has gone 7-8-2 (3) in HW World Title fights during this time.

Nobody has ever beaten as many Lineal HW Champs as Holyfield. He has wins over Douglas, Foreman, Holmes, Bowe, Tyson x2, Moorer, and Rahman. He also fought a draw with Lewis. 8 wins and a draw vs. these 8 Champs.

 

Fact was, Evander the Fraud Deal Holycheater was the dirtiest cheater and scumbag the sport has ever seen. Mr. "Evan Fields" (the name he used when he secretly ordered steroids and other PEDs) has used illegal drugs in at least half of his fights in his career, depending on whether he could get away with it, and that's why one second he'd be knocked down by a cruiserweight and the next second he's taking punches from Tyson like it was nothing. George Foreman said that Evander Holycheater was the dirtiest and nastiest fighter he'd ever faced, and he's right. Holycheater was an expert in headbutting, elbowing, lowblowing, wrestling, pushing, etc, I'm glad he got his ear torn off.
As for outside of the ring, the man claims to be a "good Christian" who was "raised right" by his mother, but at the same time, cheats on his wife, lies to his wife, has 20-30 mistresses and has a bunch of illegal children. Women who have been around him have claimed that he is a pervert deep down. When the FBI investigated him after they got evidence of him taking steroids, Holycheater denied it and his idiotic fans believed him. Really, you guys believe a guy like that?
The man is not the real deal, he is a fraud, cheater, juiced, liar, fake christian, and a hypocrite. All of his "fans" need to wake the **** up and see the man for the ugly thing that he really is.

 

Horrible GH and steroid abuser, head butting champ, best fake Christian in Boxing to date, worst father you could ever wish for.

Sad that a 29 year old GH and steroid abuser needed massive amounts of GH and steroids to barely beat an old fat 42 year old Foreman.

 

Huge heart, love how he never seemed intimidated always against Tyson Foreman gave that stare he had talking to himself walking out to the ring, tough guy
