Zak, I love you, but you are the Teddy Atlas of ESB. If you say he was not on top, he must have been. :smooch
The Tyson wins are WAY overrated, IMHO. By the time EH got his hands on Tyson, he'd just got out of PRISON and hadn't beaten anyone of significance in 4 years. In his prime, Tyson would have been too much for Holyfield...
Nobody gave a **** about Foreman/Briggs or Lewis/Briggs. Foreman trashed his Champion status cause he wanted to sit on his ass for years at a time, refuse all contenders, and avoid a rematch with Axel ****ing Shultz. If anything that stat is evidence of how worthless the "lineal" label is. Evander Holyfield made the best claim at the top spot by beating Tyson for those so called worthless trinkets Foreman refused to defend.
If there was a title for the most clueless poster on ESB, you'd be Undisputed. Holyfield's claim was **** because Tyson's claim was ****. Post prison Tyson picking up ABC trinkets from BRUCE SELDON and the horizontal heavyweight FRANK BRUNO does not make him a Heavyweight Champion. 1 + 1 = 2
:rofl To be recognized as the Champion you have to conduct yourself as one. Foreman was an embarressment, his "lineal" claim meant nothing, and not a single credible organziation or writer recoginzed him as the number one heavyweight in the world by the time of the Briggs fight.
Lewis was just better than Holyfield - he would beat him at any time. I never had any doubt Lewis would beat him. The draw result was a robbery and shamed US boxing.
Since when do boxing writers and the corrupt abc organizations decide who is or isn't the HW champion? They don't, Genius. To be The Man you have to BEAT The Man. Lewis was The Man, NOT Holyfield...
-When the Heavyweight Champion sits on his ass and decides he isn't fighting the best or much of anybody for 5 years....well, the rest of the world will move on. If Foreman dropped the titles and defended his lineage against Bowe or Lewis instead of Shultz it would be a different story. But as is, nobody gave s **** about Foreman and his cans while Holyfield and Lewis cleaned out the top 10 and collected all the major titles between them. -Neither Holyfield or Lewis was the MAN "undisputed" until they fought each other. Hell, you can even put them on even standing going into the fight if it gets your rocks off. But that lineage **** meant nothing. What if Foreman got his deserved nod against Briggs? Does that mean Lewis/Holyfield was for ****? Get out of here, you don't even believe what your shovling. Go back to the KKK and burn some more crosses, you know **** about boxing.
Ps. Tyson has one of the most under rated comebacks in history. Bruno was a much better fighter the second time round. Gave Lewis hell. Beat McCall. Tyson ended his career. People complain about McNeely. Who was he supposed to fight after 3 or 4 years out?
Maybe you can tell me exactly HOW does a champion LOSE his title? When boxing writers and abc organizations remove their blessing? Or does a champion LOSE his title in THE RING? Please remove your head from your ass. Boxing writers and corrupt abc organizations DO NOT DETERMINE WHO IS OR WHO IS NOT THE CHAMPION. To be the Man you have to BEAT the Man. Lewis beat Briggs, who beat Foreman, who beat Morrer, who beat Holyfield, who beat Bowe, who beat Holyfield, who beat Douglas, who beat Tyson, who beat Spinks, who beat HOLMES, who beat ALI, who beat Spinks, who beat ALI, who beat Foreman, who beat FRAZIER, who beat ALI, who beat LISTON, who beat PATTERSON. On the night of the first Lewis Holyfield fight, Lewis's title lineage went all the way back to FLOYD PATTERSON. Holyfield's title, OTOH, had **** for a lineage. Get a clue, Genius. Lewis was the champ, NOT Holyfield...
Foreman was The Man. Period, end of story. God damn are you DENSE. Lewis beat Briggs, who beat Foreman, etc. Lewis was The Man, NOT Holyfield...
Lewis arguably lost the second fight and got a "make up" call from the judges, against a Holyfield who was clearly past his sell date. Prime Holyfield would have outworked the ponderous Lewis, and probably stopped him late. Oh, and he would have done the same thing to a Tyson he did in '96 too. Evander had Tyson's number.
