Even if Floyd beat Pac, would he leapfrog Pac in ATG status?

Should he Yes, would he I don't know. If floyd was to retire with his zero intact having won 6 world championships in 5 different weightclasses regaining p4p number 1 having beating pac then i honestly can't see any over outcome.

The critics have said he has protected his zero throughout his career, they also hail pac as an ATG great who has taken the toughest challenges his whole career, therefore if floyd was to beat pac I would really find it intriguing how someone can still argue the fact that Pac is the better boxer amongst the two.

So to break it down. Floyd would retire p4p number 1 again, a position he vacated when he retired.

He would have beaten a man many believe is already a top 10 ATG, don't ask me how they came to that conclusion.

FLoyd would have retired an undefeated champion beating the fighter of the decade. You can't get any bigger win in the last 10 years than beating the fighter of the decade right?

No, I don't think so. A win over Pac would do a great deal for Floyd but it wouldn't be enough to jump up around 10 spots in my P4P list.

You judge a fighter on his whole career not just one fight.

Good post. The only thing is, "better boxer" is vague and open to interpretation. Does that mean better in terms of skills? Or ability? Or better in terms of being a general boxer in the sport. Better boxers don't always win.

This don't make sense guys.(I know bad english) These guys are both near their primes and are way above their competition. Manny has achieved more now in the sport, but Floyd is up there. They only complaint people have with Floyd is not beating top competition in their prime and if he beats Pacquiao, then that will put to rest all the doubts about Floyd and what is holding him back from the elites. I truly believe Floyd is the better fighter and if he wins then he proves that and his ranking should show that

I understand your point but I think both floyd and pac career are so comparable i.e both multi time world champions in different weightclasses both having been number 1 p4p fighters in this era, both continuing the win the biggest fights of their careers i.e mayweather v mosley, pac v margarito.

They are so comparable that it will have to come down to a straight head to head fight. Usually the notion styles make fights comes into play and usually i would accept that. But the pendulum has swung greatly in Pac's favour that the fight is now a 50/50. People are now questioning how good mayweather really is while praising how great pac really is. When it all said and done the critics may have no choice but to eat their words and give mayweather his dues if he beats pac. This also applies to Pac as well if he were to win.

You call this a rebuttal? :patsch Look child, talk about their careers and explain WHY one win would catapult him over Pac and all his accomplishments. Don't worry, I don't expect anything rational from a **** like you. Just stick to "trying" to make smart ass or witty comments.

if mayweather beats pac, then yeah, you can put him over pac because the winner establishes themselves as the best fighter of their generation. but since pac has a better overall resume he has more to gain from beating mayeather.

So if Leon Spinks had retired straight after beating Ali then he would be ranked the higher ATG?

My only argument with this post, which is quality BTW, is the assumption that they are very close in an ATG sense. I think had Floyd not taken so much time off during his prime, they would be. But in that absensem Pac distinguished himself as the greater fighter. Taking big risks (even though many call them cherrypicking afterwards). If Floyd beats Pac, and lets say, Martinez, THAN I would have no qualms about stating floyd's greater.
