Even if Floyd beat Pac, would he leapfrog Pac in ATG status?

I compare this to Nadal vs Federer. Even though Nadal's record vs Federer tells a story, it's not the complete story. Federer is still greater than Nadal in ATG status.

It's all subjective and I respect Manny's accomplishments, but I don't hold some of his victories as high as others may.

Beating De La Hoya @147 and Hatton (both previously beaten or KOd by Floyd), isn't overly impressive to me given the circumstances. Floyd beat De La Hoya at a more suitable weight for Oscar when Oscar was champ and KO'd Hatton giving him his 1st lost (VIA KO, mind you). The more impressive victories go to Mayweather, IMO.

I also rank Mayweather's victory over Mosley, who at the time was P4P #3 in the world and the consensus #1 WW in the world, over any single victory Manny has had at or above WW (Cotto, Clottey, Margarito @150).

Mayweather and Pacquiao's careers at the lower weight divisions is comparable so I almost consider it a wash. Both hold all time great status that is a lot closer than a lot of people would like to believe and if Mayweather were to dominate Pacquiao, I'd rank him above Pacquiao as an ATG.

The truth is I already do.

its not to diminish his career but to put things into perspective. the likes of cotto, margo, clottey are very good fighters but you wouldnt consider any of them atgs would you?
a victory over pac would be the greatest highlight of mayweather's career and like wise a victory over mayweather would be the highlight of pac's career.

a victory for either man puts them in a distinct category, beating the very best man they ever faced.

ATG status might be debatable, but he would certainly be considered the best fighter of this era.

don't think so. Did Hearns leapfrog Duran when he destroyed him? nope.

ATG status is determined by a man's entire career, not a single fight.

I already felt Pac was a greater p4p fighter than Floyd when it was still inconceivable that they would ever share the ring. Look at it now, the fight is would be practically even odds.

They weren't close enough to their primes. Floyd is more past his prime than Manny is

that's debatable. Pac has been a pro since he's 15 years old. Now he's 32. And anyways, being past prime doesn't affect every fighter the same. Look at Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins

a past prime vs past prime fight doesn't really prove much.

I think that people will look at it in retrospect. And in the future i believe those who favor Floyd will have more ammo.

Now i know people say titles don't matter but Mayweather fans can use this. By title I mean the alphabet titles proper and maybe the IBO depending on circumstance. Plus meaningful fights.

    Mayweather 20 -0 (9kos)
    Pac 18 - 1 - 2 (13kos)

Mayweather wins is 21-0 to 18-2-2 meaningful or title fights plus H2H advantage

Also Mayweather beat Hatton ODL first and Mosley after he massacred Margo giving people the hindsight to discredit Pacs wins

    Mayweather 5 weight classes
    Pac 7

Its a simple yes he would probably would have sufficed, soz for the long

They are already relatively close in terms of legacy, with Manny slightly ahead at the moment, IMO. A win for Floyd puts him in the lead, as he would've beaten the fighter, currently, considered by many to be the best in the sport. That feat alone should fill any gaps on his resume, and anything he does to enhance his legacy after that is icing on the cake.

    bingo....

anyone who says theyd still rank pac higher than floyd if floyd were to win a head to head matchup is ******ed....and would in fact discredit just about anything theyve previously said to defend pac
