If Little g had big nuts and faced and defeated Canelo, he would still be a MW who defeated a B level SWW. Not near the same impact as BHOP defeating A level Trinidad.

If he went on and achieved the impossible by defeating Ward at 168, it would be a huge accomplishment and at the least boxing fans would consider Golovkin as a true proven great boxers.

In reality, Golovkin may face and even defeat Canelo, but other than unifying the titles, it will be no real big deal. Even than Golovkin would be < Jermiane Taylor who gained the undisputed MW titles by defeating ATG, BHOP.

I agree that GGG beating on Canelo would be a good win, not a great win. Golovkin would have to pound on either a very good middleweight or a top supermiddle for greatness.
