even if you are a Fury fan you should all want Usyk to win the fight

    too see greatness achieved

he beats Fury and becomes undisputed in HW after already being undisputed in CW he goes down as an not just an all time great but possibly GOAT tier level stuff....

Usyk winning the fight would be a bigger legacy boost for him than Fury winning it

This is correct. Usyk has a much lower bar by future of the fact that the is a career cruiser. If he wins, he is a giant killer. If Fury wins, he is a bully.

Couldn't that argument also be applied to every underdog in every fight?

Want them to fight for undisputed on a level playing field. Thats what we want first, and may the best man win.

Fury winning would be greatness achieved too. Or reaffirmed.

So, after hearing for I dunno how long about how Fury is scared of Usyk and would be taken apart by him, do we now get the pre-undermining of Fury's feat for the next several months?

Far from being a bully, Fury is a savant, an unprecedented heavy in that he has utterly defied the limitations that such typically cumbersome dimensions impose on a boxer.

He has, time and again, done what (almost) everybody swore he was too fat, clumsy, dumb, chinny or featherfisted to do.

He already beat men closer to his size than Usyk. Joshua is closer to his size than Usyk, and Usyk just beat him.

We have been told that Usyk is so good as to negate the ostensible advantage of size. And, to a significant, high-level extent, the advertising is truthful.

Usyk could be Undisputed in two weight classes, you say? Well, Fury's "greatness" and "legacy" is a Biblical prophecy. So we're even.

He has as much right to claim the full glory of Undisputed as Sasha Usyk, providing his performance on the night is a legitimately winning one.

I grant you that it's never, ever been hip to support Fury (though I guess it's finally fashionable in a mainstream sense), but that doesn't mean you guys get to denigrate him to a nothing and sweep away the matter of how greatly he's defied the odds to accomplish his current station.

When Fury fights I usually want to see him win, but against Usyk I would want an Usyk victory. He’s avoided no one and he’s achieved everything on the road. It would be an awesome thing to see for him to get undisputed then hang them up
However, should they fight he’s got a massive uphill challenge. Size matters, or so my wife tells me

As we speak, Fury has not even formally agreed to the fight.

Look, it sounds like your mind is made up, and I am not going to argue the point ad ifinitum. As a 6'9" 270 point heavy, he is not going to get the same credit if he beats a cruiser as the cruiser will get for beating him. David and Goliath is strong in people's minds.

    That's all.

Neither man has formally agreed to the fight. That's what negotiations (apparently underway) are for.

History isn't going to look back and agonize over which of these two might've been afforded more credit had he won and not lost.

The one who loses will simply be a highly creditable part of the winner's body of work.

Guys can't build Usyk up to be the reckoning of Tyson Fury and then crap on Tyson Fury or deny him his due propers for beating Usyk. That's having the cake and eating it. Bratty.

    That's all.

There's a distinction between belated mass celebration and hip icon status.

I used to like Fury but he's just become insufferable over the past year. I generally like Usyk more and am a bigger fan overall.

People need to root for who they want to root for - nothing should stand in the way of that.

Whilst I will be rooting for Usyk if it comes about, I have nothing against Fury and if he prevails fairly without controversy then I (and Usyk too I suspect) will doff my cap to him

I would just be lying to myself.

I could intellectualize why it would be better to see Usyk win, but as soon as Fury puts it on Usyk, I'll slip straight into cheering Fury on.

I'm crap at staying neutral once the bell sounds if it involves a fighter I like.
