Even more greatness comes from adversity

Once again "the man" has to brush himself off and prove himself to be a great champion, he had no business losing to Wood but it serves only as a wake up call to "the man" who has vowed to march on.

“In sport I’ve already achieved greatness in what I’ve achieved in my career both in boxing and in league, but even more greatness comes from adversity so it could be a blessing in disguise.
“Maybe I didn’t have the hunger or the desire like I did when I came into the sport. I was so hungry I was like a Wood, I would do anything to win.
“Not just with last night’s fight, but maybe the last half a dozen fights, the eye of the tiger’s not there and maybe this will help me get it back.”

“They can sing their tune now and people, the doubters and the non-believers can have their fun. But I came back before and I know The Man can come back again, I know that,” he said.
“I still have the desire to do what no man’s done and that’s go down to the junior middleweight and win the title, but I’m going to talk to my team, we’ve got so many options.
“Knowing me and my competitiveness, I wouldn’t mind a rematch (with Wood), but it’s up to the team. The first goal is stepping in and getting the junior middleweight title and become the first man ever to do it.”

Wood can come and get another payday and the whooping he's owed from the other night by rematching mundine but the man has not shelved his plans for an assault on the 154 division either.



The true mark of a champion is how he comes back, the ex supermiddleweight and middleweight kingpin might have been down and out the other night but rest assured he's up and that is what counts.


He didnt look like the uppercut machine that dispatched waters not so long ago. Expect a rabid hungry mundine next time out, expect him to bounce back and clean out the 154lb division in 2011.

I realised I was stooping as low as the freaks on this board and instead of being a forum where I could discuss mundine it was just turning into me whaling on lames all day and although fun it's not productive for a man of my stature and intellect to be responding to clowns all day.

Geale looked good against karmazin don't get delusional about his chances with the man. Although if he fought like he did against wood geale might get as close as a draw.

Im gonna assume knucklehead means "youre right" in australian.

Ive never seen a boxing style as ridiculous as garth wood's and I really can't fathom why mundine didnt jump on him from the opening bell, wood didnt know what to do when he had punches coming at him. The result is one in a million.

Alvarez at 154 isn't off the table I don't think, but I agree Wood needs a reality check in the rematch first.
