Even Roy Jones doesnt give hopkins a chance

I don't agree Hopkins doesn't have a chance to RJJ just by watching his performance on Tito. I believe the fight we saw recently was an obvious mismatch. Not that both had the same height, but Trinidad is too "small" for Roy. A deja vu in what he got in fighting Hopkins. Why wonder these two opponents can take Tito's known punching power. Damn he made these guys looked good on him.
Roy is in great physical condition in this fight alright, but what really made him win was he is too powerful and simply can take Trinidad's "slaps".
On the issue Bernard has no chance on Roy, I believe Hopkins is still in a good form than Jones if they fight. It would be a tough rematch for RJJ.

 

The Calzaghe - Bika fight was a messy affair but Calzaghe clearly won.

In the rounds where Calzaghe boxed behind the jab he made Bika look silly and hardly got hit at all. It is Calzaghe's natural tendency to brawl which allowed Bika into the fight. Obviously comparing Bika to Hopkins is nonsense but highlighting one sub par performance to imply that Calzaghe isn't very good is equally nosensical.

Bika should have been disqualified for repeatedly headbutting JC anyway.

I do agree that this fight is far from a forgone conclusion though. Hopkins looks good at light heavy weight and is a masterful technician.

 

Agreed Trinidad was the favorite it shouldn't take away from his accomplishment becuase he basically owned him ..I hate it when after the fact people want to rip apart the win but going into it,that was not the case !

I do agree with Jones though I don't see Hopkins beating Joe C

Erm no. If he couldnt KO Lacy with over 1000 punches I seriously doubt he would KO Bhop with less than half of that.

The odds of a KO are low on each side, and what you have left is one guy throwing many punches, and the other throwing relatively few.

If Jermain Taylor could beat Hopkins twice -- or at least fight him evenly -- then what do you think the faster, more accurate, more intelligent, greater stamina, better chin fighter will do?

And in my opinion, Hopkins has aged since even the Taylor fights. I'd favor a prime Hopkins over Calzaghe, but in 2008, this is a mismatch.

 

Lets not forget that Hopkins ha s achin of granite ..Its yet to be determined if Joe can carry more power at lt hevy .

 

Roy Jones is so brave now that he's looking for another payday. Where was this heart when Michalczewski was offering him a career high payday for a fight in Germany?

 

The same place Michalczewski's was when Jones told him to hop his ass on a plane and come over here.

If Jones wants to get his head handed to him, sure. I hope he doesn't. Some people here have erroneously concluded that Jones still has something after beating Trinidad. Calzaghe would easily outwork and maybe even stop Jones.

If Jones wants a big payday, he may go over there at this point. Early on there was no reason to, since he was a huge name.

 

I don't know what you saw saw in Joes last couple of fights thats says he stops Jones !

 

Workrate bothers Jones, and Calzaghe has at least the power of Glen Johnson.
