Despite tweets, rumors, alleged facts, there was no rematch clause, and Oscar can't dictate.

So if LP is free to fight whom he wants next, what should he do?

He still might want to do Khan again next, even if not forced to.

Simply because many of the others pose greater risk than Kahn does!

Bradley would prob repeat his W, others might KO LP.
And LP could well beat Khan easier, as he has him figured out from the getgo now.

Great win for Peterson but the points deduction won the fight for him. Had it been a different ref he would of lost the fight.I'm sure he'd want to cement the victory rather than nab the belts and run, I'm sure that Lamont is not the kind of guy to do that.

    Deductions were well deserved.
Khan only has himself to blame.
And so who do you think LP should fight next?

Havent seen the fight in full yet so I cant comment of the legitimacy of the points deductions. I think LP should fight Khan in a rematch. beating a guy by one point on 2 cards helped by points deductions gota be good enough reason for a rematch. However much ESB would like Lamont to take the belts and run, Lamont has proved himself not to be a ***** like Khan and better than that so I think he'll take the rematch which will be in Vegas, 50/50 split.

Imagine Wlad or Mayweather losing because they clinched when a fighter got close and got points deducted. If a fighter is close, you push him back to get leverage on your punches, if he comes in head first you push the head down to stop him headbutting you, if he is pressuring you or landing on the inside you clinch. I thought these where common rules of boxing. I remember when people where faulting Cotto for not knowing how to clinch after he fought Marg.

    He has three options:

    1) Khan - makes the most money and the most sense, gives him the chance to put all the controversy of the referee aside as well. if he feels he won the first fight then why wouldn't he feel he could beat him again.

    2) Bradley - only career defeat, a win over Bradley would cement the 140 no 1 as Peterson will have beaten both candidates in a row, not as good money as khan but a win over Bradley would really big up a Khan rematch later in the year.

    3) Take on someone else, enjoy first defense and then pick one of the other two later in the year.

    Are you kidding or what?

Everyone knows pushing the opponent away and pushing the head down are AGAINST the rules of boxing.

Surely you must have seen the Thriller in Manilla. Ref Padilla warned ALi how many times for breaking the rules and pushing down on Frazier's neck? Though I love Ali, against anyone else, Padilla would have deducted points.

Then re pushing away, you can see in RD 2, Mercante warning Foreman to stop pushing Frazier away. I believe there the action was so fast and heavy that Mercante did not act properly and soon enough, and Frazier's corner told him between Rds to start enforcing the rules.

Boxing is not street fighting or mMA, and enforcing its rules is to me a welcome thing. Else we end up seeing the likes of 30 deliberate mashes to the gonads like we did a few months ago.

Just because too many refs, either due to incompetence, corruption or whatever often do not enforce the rules well enough, is no reason to complain when one ref acts properly after the fighter fails to change from repeated warnings!

Well we will see soon enough, prob if it will be 2 out of 2.

ANd it is absurd to want to label some one as having to be a fan of a fighter. Some of us just want to see fair, action-filled fights with the best man winning. And with the rules enforced.

People who are not happy with the outcome should just be criticizing Khan for not fighting smart or up to his potential perhaps.
And for not losing his amateurish or frightened style.

He is no Ali who could simultaneously move and stick. It's basically hit a bit, then run and cover, then repeat, but with no flow, or ability or desire to hang with anyone who hits back--even though he is allegedly faster than all of them.

watched the fight immediately after that post. Dont need to see the fight to know he won by points deductions. whether it was Khan's fault or the ref's Peterson benefitted and won the fight from points deductions, that's an undeniable fact

saying that he won only because of point deductions and didn't even see the whole fight is just funny, that just shows you're biased... in my opinion, and i have watched the whole fight, without counting point deductions (and at least one was definitely legit) and "KD" in the 1st - peterson still won. anyway, looks like we've got the rematch...
