Even though Pac beat Oscar, he is still too small for 140

I've been thinking about this. I remember when Pac fought Diaz, he looked very small. Then Pac fought Oscar he looked tiny.

so what we have in Pac is a fighter who has a small frame at lightweight. At 140 he is extremely small, and at 147 he is just tiny.

So he may weigh in at 145 on fightnight, i'm not questioning that, but he is still a small lightweight, compared to other lightweights who have bigger frames.

All things considered Pac could still make 130, a weight he made in March 2008.

So maybe he will beat Hatton, i am not saying he won't, what I'm saying is that for a 140lb fighter, he is really small. If the bigger fights were at 130/135, i'm sure he would still be in those divisions rather than 140/147

I am going to sit on the fence with this one.

Pacquiao hasn't beaten a quality live opponent above 130, but is clearly P4P #1.

Size isn't that much of a difference because Hatton, whilst being exceptionally strong at 140, isn't particularly big nor blessed with long reach.

Just wish it was in the UK.

Yes he is small... but on height only. He has enough reach and body mass to compete at 140. But heck no to 147.

We all know 140 are ruled by europeans and mexicans who are commonly much more taller than any asians.

easily at 130? He's almost dehydrated at Barrera II. And needed to shed a lot for Marquez(no excuse here). Roach even said that it's hard to shed to 130 then going fight night at 147lbs(which Pac common weight at fight nights). Even today Roach is not making Pac go back to 135lbs because he knows that loosing only few pounds maintains Pac's speed and composure.

Pacman had been having a hard time making 130 since Nov2007 Barerra2 fight. He will have a much harder time making that weight now.

its not height only its also bone structure. Look at Diaz and Pac who are the same height but Diaz makes Pac look small

As for Pac having a hard time making 130, he didn't look drained against JMM in the rematch. He looked sharp at fought hard for 12 rounds... that was just a few months ago.

The thing is, Pac shows up at 147 commonly. Which is a welterweight limit. That's why it keep us on our mind that he can compete there. They already said so that they won't fight anything above 147...but resisting a megafight at 147? Nobody would disagree at that may that be Hoya or Mayweather.

Hatton rules the 140lbs. It's gonna be tough for Pacman, but its a mountain he has to climb again to reach his seal maker... Mayweather.

Yeah I get your point mate, But of course we need to look on the other side of the story.

We all cement in our mind that Pac is small because he is asian national, started as a flyweight and 80% of his bouts are all in the lower division. But he was a malnourished kid who only eats veggies and rice. He has muscles but not even enough body fats. I don't even know where he gets all his energy.
But when he was eating well, having a real nutrionist, guided by roach and started growing up. His body mass expanded, don't get me wrong Pinoys also has tall people and others have large body mass(the rich ones I must say).
So yeah Pac and Diaz, yup he was very small, Hoya and Pac, a midget(not really that small)... But Pac has a different arsenal on his own.. his power and speed that overcomes size difference.

Also, Roach admit that Pacquiao was having hard time shedding for Marquez fight, he has to jog with lots of slimming clothes evryday. It was the time after Barrera Roach wanted to go lightweight, but of course they need to finish the unfinished business at 130...

    just my 3 cents...

size means next to nothing when you're 12 notches above everyone else in the division

ok and thats great that he could overcome his size disadvantage but i am talking at the elite level. Against top10 p4p opposition.

I stil think Pac will own Hatton, but Hatton is barely top10. How would Pac fare against a guy like Cotto at 147? Does he really have a shot? Cotto is massive next to Pac and is a good fighter himself.

At 140, he has a lot of good chances.

At 147, slim to none. But not that he would lose to KO, he would probably 90% loose by decisions. The 10% is only for Margarito, Cotto and Williams

As far as height and reach are concerned Cotto is just a little taller, with the same reach as Pac but I agree with your earlier statement of bone structure, people are built differently and Cotto is very strong.

He is the same height, and has at least the same reach as the main man at 140. I think he actually has a reach advantage over Hatton.

I completely disagree. First of all... Pac came into the ring at 147 against Diaz. Pac was really struggling to make 135.
