Even with 2 layers of clothing, JMM really looks small compared to Floyd...

Shane was willing to fight PAC at Jr WW for both his titles. I think he should have taken that fight but Arum is promoter of both PAC and Cotto so there is more inecentive fighting within your own stable.

I was VERY impressed with Cotto beating Josh....although I thought and predicted Josh would win, I learned that Cotto is a true champion, a very good boxer and that Josh is lacking key characteristics that a true champion should have. The skills and natrual attributes are there for josh but he complained and whined like a baby in his fight with Cotto who had a nasty cut he dealt with and kept it moving. I still beleive Josh would beat Cotto in a rematch but I don't think people give Miguel the kind of credit and recognition he deserves for that win.

 

Size does mean something Scar. Have a physical advantage can be the deciding factor in a fight between two men who have similar talent, skills, ring intelligence and experience. ****....Size could be the deciding factor based on even less than that. Being unable to hurt your opponent even if you box his socks off for 11 rounds, then being caught by one punch of your larger opponent to end the fight is something that happens often. No one should blame Floyd for his superior skills and talent. he's worked hard and he was born with these natural gifts, but if Size wasn't a factor then we'd see floyd fighting the Klit bros for a 9 figure pay day.

 

Floyd is without question bigger.....but that isnt' the reason why he'll beat JMM. Floyd is younger, faster, in his prime and closer to his natrual weight. Skills are pretty even but Talent is on the side of Mayweather. He should win comfortably if not within the distanced he'll dominate.

 

Floyd didn't retire bc of Paul...He retired b/c he wanted to create his "comeback" story. Floyd is high on himself. he sees himself as the Jordan of Boxing. He wanted to make a dramatic return to glory and recapture his thrown similar to how Jordan did it. Floyd is a business man and a boxer. He's working the sport of boxing and creating a story in order to make money. Unfortunatley the kind of money Floyd expected to make in this "comeback" isn't as fruitful as he expected due to the economy and the fact that PAC has taken the sport of boxing by storm with his recent victories over the sports biggest stars.

 

Floyd isn't scared of anyone. But he does make decisons on who he fights based on their style, marketability and risk. He'd never fight Paul b/c of Pauls style and physical demensions and the fact he's not a well known fighter. I'm almost certian Paul would be one of the only fighters in or around 147 who is able to beat him. I also feel Floyd would have an easy time with Marg. he didn't face Marg b/c at the time DLH was his golden ticket to big $$$.

 

Floyd is a great boxer. That is not up for debate. He's skills and talent are unquestionable. He's not the kind of champion that SRL was b/c Floyd hasn't really tested himself or challenged himself the way Ray leonard did throughout his career. But still a great champion non the less.

 

It's a business move. JMM had two close fights which he lost to the current P4P champ. JMM is recognized as the #2 P4P fighter right now and it's setting up a showdown between the current P4P champ vs the previous P4P champ who never lost his title in the ring. Floyd is about money more than legacy.

 

Floyd is the better boxer but not based on actual skill sets....based on his talent. JMM doesn't have the natrual gifts that Floyd holds, but in terms of skills and ring intelligence they are operating on the same level. Floyd is just a rare talent who never gets flustered or gets away from the game plan....even if it makes for a boring fight. JMM is more of a ring tactitian and technician who will also FIGHT when he is provoke. WHich causes him to be more at risk for a loss, where Floyd doesn't allow himself to get baited into fighting someone elses fight. Which is why he's one of the most intelligent boxers in the game today....which is also why he's not as well received as he should be by the masses. Floyd could have the same following that DLH or a SRL had in their day but he's really not that worried about how he's recvied jsut as long as his paycheck has enough zeros in it.

IMO it's that not that marquez is that much smaller(in weight) than Floyd. What's more important is the fact that we don't know if Marquez would be as effective as
he was at 130. And judging by his two 135 fights where he struggled he won't be effective fighting at 144 against a fighter that is used to fighting there.

The real question is how well JMM carries the extra weight. Thats whats important here.

Floyd is not a guy who imposes his strenght on you, he just boxes guys. So the challenge for JMM is to outbox Floyd. The weight wont matter IF JMM is healthy at 144.
