Had one yesterday. I sorta agreed to sparring on a whim without thinking. Had some greasy pizza earlier and i was cramped up and winded right from the start.

On top of that, I sprained my ****ing ankle and threw out my elbow, but like a fool, kept fighting through it.

Ended up doing ok but took way more shots than I wanted to.

Anyone have any recommendations on pre-sparring warmups, I suppose?

Have them all the time, just gotta remember that it's a one off and remember to come back stronger next time!

But I also wouldn't spar if I felt ill or anything.

it's DAMN common! Sometimes when i spar i'm like bumble bee, slipping and weaving all the punches and connecting my shots pretty well.

But sometimes it's just my off-day, ( and for me i have pretty many off days ) where i get hit constantly and my punches never seem to be able to connect.

I think it boils down to my mood and my state of mind. These off days are definitely very demoralizing though :(

    Just had one today.

It is a bit demoralising as one mentioned, I need to get my confidence up for the next one..

yep, many a time. i think as my technique couldnt be tightened up and i rely a little on timing and reflexes to evade shots i only need to be a little out of sync and i start getting hit a lot!

Im exactly the same, after a hard day at work and sparring at night, energy levels low and find myself in the wrong state of mind.

When it comes to weekends when im off or sparring before work totally different
