It was a good win, but in context of the welterweight division that was chock a block with great challengers at the time it seemed like a backward step for many, especially those who'd seen Hatton's one other fight at 147.

I wanted to see him fight any top 5 welterweight.

okay fair enough .. and using Dawson, while in a different division it's a solid comparison as I get what you mean because with Dawson, your talking about monster upside and well the closest Welter to that would be Berto

(weather he lives up to his hype is a whole nother story but I think I get what you mean)

not saying Collazo sucks, but the fact that he's lost to Hatton (a natural 140 pounder and at the moment Ricky's only Welterweight victory) and Berto

really should be held more against him.

rather then pitting the other side and saying what "could of" or "should of"
happened in the Berto & Hatton fights.

    And so did Cotto

or do you also think Cotto did just enough to get by Malignaggi?

    Cotto > Hatton

Physically but he did not beat him mentally. Malignaggi was still there at the end of the fight and winning rounds and landing big shots in the process. Hatton broke Malignaggi down and Malignaggi did nothing in return.
