That's a hard one with Mercer because had Morrison gone down he may have gotten back up. Look how close Fury was to being finished vs Usyk.

Don't try to be clever The beatings Tommy Morrison took , like Mercer gave him, could be a reason he went off the rails by damaging his brain he gave up a promising boxing career by drug use & partaking in unsafe sexual encounters Who knows

Morrison was a party animal long before Mercer whooped him.

Morality? 2 professionals stepping up to throw and evade fists? Both parties know what they're getting themselves in to, as well as the danger that awaits them (to some degree) by signing that contract.

Mercer was just doing as any professional would.

You don't stop fighting until the bell rings, the ref says stop, break or he pulls you off of him.

Not going for the “ref hadn’t pulled me off” crap.?

What was Morrison going to do?

Possibly fall on him or something?

    Morrison was out!

You have to be actually in the ring with someone hurt, to actually know what it's like to have your kill switch turned on. At times you don't even recall punches you threw.

It is the corner and the referee's job to look after a fighter's welfare. Not the opponent's.

It's crazy in there once the bell rings, it's essentially anarchy within a 'civilized' society.

I loved it though, there's nothin' like throwing fists between the bells.

Everytime a boxer enters the squared circle, they are intending to inflict neuro damage on their opponent before that opponent does it to them, let us not get moralistic about such matters.
That was not intended to be a crass statement, it is fact, i sure felt that way against every opponent i faced, there is personal responsibility by the opponent to say 'No Mas', or the ref/corner to stop the fight.

Okay it's amateurs, but I can think of one clear exception.

Imane Khelif knows full well he's a biological male with the increased punching power that comes with it... Still chooses to fight women because it's within IOC rules, even though it's thoroughly unethical.
