Not with any real high profile fighters. I used to spar every day with tommy speller,he faught on the under card of the mayweather-mosley fight in vegas. And my man anthony gatt. Anthony was tim witherspoons sparring partner for the chris arreola fight.
yes, sparred with belarussian pro Dmitry Adamovitsh - strong journeyman , obviously better than me everytime i tried to lash on him everything i had, he easily counter me and it was painful as hell.
I have!!!! Really made me appreciate those lower weight class divisions. I sparred a pro Mexican bantamweight. I'm 130 myself. He had around 20 fights. I'll tell tw story when I get home. Andrey
I sparred a guy who was a pro in my hometown a few days before he fought on a card there. I was getting rotated in with two other guys. He was much taller/longer and way busier than me(his stamina was insane and mine....well just sucked) even though I outweighed him and had heavier hands. I landed one shot to his head and that was it...I had shot my load and was done. It rocked him but then he got pissed and gave me payback tenfold. Then I spent the rest of the round having him do his impression of Paul Williams on my head. I was too tired to keep my hands up or move my head so I just absorbed it all until the end of the round. The guy ended up moving to Las Vegas and getting into MMA(he had a kick boxing background). He would have appeared on FNF but lost the bout he had to win to get on the card(his first pro loss) He was a 6' 6" cruiserweight version of Antonio Margarito lol
I sparred Edwin Viruet. He fought professional and lost to Esteban DeJesus, twice to Duran via decision and Edwin Rosario. He use to go to the World's Gym in Somerville, MA. I trained my ass off to get in the ring with him. I especially practiced the half jab, half uppercut. I got in the ring with him and did my thing. I am proud to say that I got him with that punch followed by a straight right. I got the better of him, but the fight ended in the first round due to myself having a 102 fever. Mind you I weighed about 160 and he weighed about 140. He moves right at you and I thought I was Camacho back then with the movement. It was a lot of fun. Who I wanted to get in the ring with was Dana Rosenblatt. It never happened.
Yes,and they quickly pulled me off him....they thought i was going to get killed...next day when i woke up i could only move my head, the doctor thought i had been in a car crash
i sparred a few times while training at the local boxing gym.....got my first concussion I'm a few years older than the pro who fights outta that gym, so i went into sparring with the mentality that i was there to help him more than myself.....after a few sessions I finally realized that no matter how hard I go in sparring, there will be no hard feelings, he's not gonna retaliate with vengeance, and if I'm not trying my hardest he won't benefit any
Yea. With Gabriel Bam Bam Rivera. He was 4-0 at the time, outweighed me by about 30lbs, and hit like a truck. I was holding my own and got a little cocky with a bodyshot, which only pissed him off abit, and he returned the favor and knocked my wind out. I stayed on my feet, but I was lucky he didn't follow up. He's a great, funny guy though. Learned alot from him. Now I mostly spar with up and coming MMA fighters, help them with their stand up.
No, but I do have the The Teddy Atlas interactive training system. He may be dumb as a brick but he is great pro boxing teacher.
