I sparred with former jr middle Joe Wyatt.Tough dude..Also Gary Winmon taught me how to split the guard real well
sparred a few times with kevin johnson. he is a good slick boxer very good defensively when he wants to be. but he likes to cover up and lay on the ropes.I believe his main weakness is pressure, he doesnt like when you put pressure on him and that can hurt him once he fights a type HW who can bang, fight with pressure and has decent stamina. However if he keeps fighting guys who want to counter punch or lay back alittle he will win on points and has proved that so far. he is kinda like ruiz nothing spectacluar but frustates opponents and is a good fighter who can outpoint anyone if they fight his fight. I learned that most HW's hand speeds are underrated and even if they arent big knock punchers most have some pop its just a question if you can take it or not. And this is to everyone who say some are fat. Yes they look it, but i promise you they train alot harder then you think and they still have more stamina then most people on this board at HW.
Sparred with Hector Camacho Jr (fast as hell), Kelcie Banks, Donald "Tiger" Stokes, Rusty Deuron, Troy Beets, and actually fought Roy Jones as an amatuer
Not sure if this counts but I sparred with one of Zab Judah's sparring partners ..What I learned is to never leave your ribs exposed ! It was a painful lesson
I sparred with dude name Roy Lopez. I did pretty damn good, but then again i always do in the early rounds. I have really fast hands. Towards the end of round 3 he was catching me pretty good. I was starting to tire, if it would have gone a couple more rounds i probably would have ended up on my back. He hit really hard, when i wasnt able to box and move like i wanted to cause i was getting tired he was doing alot of damage. alot of fun though
Similar to me Doc. I had some sparring with a few boys who are now Pro. They will do nothing. It is speed that you need and as an old southpaw, I couldn't do it.:-( Come on, half of us, are nealrly's, wannabes or could be's. Speed and dedication to it cost me.
We would just practise for hours..Infighting.Hes about 6ft3 280 ripped..Im only 5ft8 low 140's..it was light sparring..He would lean on me n make me fire shots between an around his gloves..Just accuracy training..
