Anyone have these? Are they any good? Just ordered a pair from titleboxing. I have very easily damaged knuckles and a little bit of arthritis in one wrist so though i might give these a go. They looked to be a better option than the 2 sets of Mexican hand wraps i currently have to wear to stop injury.
They are more of a gimmick. I have tried them I did not like them, first off they are rubbery and depending on the snugness of your gloves are hard to put your hands in the glove because the rubber sort of sticks and as you slide in, no big there though but I just like my hands to slide in my gloves, what I did do with them in the end was cut them up and got rid of the excess wrist area and overkill velcro straps what I ended up with is the ever gel knuckle pad which works great for me
thanks guys yeah its the knuckles im more worried about - to protect my wrists i have been using grant lace up gloves because they come down further on my forearm and provide better stability. Better than most velcro, for me anyway
Thats a really good idea i might do that. I bought a pair when i bought my heavy bag thinking it would be easier than wrapping up. But i injured my wrists alot and now iv bought hand wraps i havnt used them in about 6 months , waist of money in my oppinion. I think they were 14 pounds sterling and my handwraps cost 5. They take more time but there worth it. The gel wraps were a waste of money but i do like the cutting them up and using the knuckle bit under the handwraps good idea! thanks :good (still wouldnt go out and buy them just for that though but might as well use them in some way now iv got em)
To be honest mate id cancel the order as the wraps are better , if money isnt a problem then keep them and see what you think yourself you might think there good.
i was thinking i would hold onto them because i hear they are good for the floor to ceiling ball and even the speed bag - they were only $20 so no biggie if they arent any good
Yeh thats true they would be good for both of those. I was gunna say too before on the other thread im surprised that your a boxer and a medical student lol you generally think as the medical profession against the boxing communitity. Got any information that we can kid ourselves its not dangerous to box lol:yep
haha heaps of people cant believe im a fan of the sport - but i would love it no matter what i did as a job. I havent really ever done much sparring - but when i have its been headgear and 16oz gloves. Your not going to get hurt in the amateurs, studies have shown that you will do more damage dehydrating to make weight than head trauma from punching. In the pros its mostly the people who box on too long or arent properly trained who get things like pugilistic dimentia. I can almost guarantee you that guys like Toney, Gatti and Holyfield will be messed up in a few years; you can just see it in their speech patterns and in their eyes. One piece of advice; if your going to do contact sport stick to boxing. Anyone who thinks that MMA is just as safe is kidding themselves - it is FAR more dangerous for your health. Give it 20 years and we will see a whole new generation of Muhammad Ali type cases as a result of the UFC :good
You wont catch me in a ring without head gear and big gloves lol. It is a dangerous sport no doubt about it but i think a little perspective would be good generally from the medical world. Im pretty sure its not even in the top 10 most dangerous for deaths. I think the ufc guys are brain damaged to do it in the ****in first place lol.
Funnily enough, I was looking at these on the official Everlast site just last week and thought they were a good idea, especially when switching between heavy bagwork and floor-to-ceiling ball/speedball work. How much are they costing you all up?
