This has been the solution I've been looking for. I picked it up today at Dick's Sporting Goods for $15, and used it tonight for the first time with great results. You can program up to 12 rounds, choose either 2 or 3 min rounds, and a 20 or 60 sec rest period. I just clipped it on the waistline of my boxer shorts for the workout (took me back to the pager days). It operates on 2 AAA batteries, but I am suspect of the battery life because it vibrates for the whole 30 sec warning. You have the option of turning the vibrate mode off though. Regardless, I'm very happy with the purchase as I feel it's a very practical tool at a minimal cost. [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Everlast-7000-Personal-Round-Timer/dp/B000KQ0TJG[/ame]
15 bucks is good however with computers and the internet surley you can make any type of timer you want and put it on your MP3 player or phone **** sake, its just audio
I tried using the mp3 timer that I uploaded to my ipod, but found it very annoying to box with the ipod at my waist, the cord accross my body and the earbuds in my ears. At home I use the online timer on my PC, but at my fitness gym which is very loud and without a timer, this was the best option. I considered buying an iphone mainly for the app, but this timer is significantly cheaper and works surprisingly well.
The everlast timer is cheap and handy except I aways forget the dam thing when I need it most. I prefer this instead since I carry around my phone everywhere I go. This can be used with most phones. http://www.workout-timer.com
$15 is a steal. I'm just perplexed as to why a real timer costs so ****ing much. It's a metal box that has 4 settings and makes a loud ringing noise. Rounds 2 min or 3 min, Rest 30 sec or 1 min. Sometimes they light up at the top... For $150, **** that.
I have been using the exact same Everlast timer for 2 years now. Best 20 bucks I think I have ever spent. Otherwise, you have to base your entire workout on the gyms timer, which I hated doing.
The Wild Card is never quiet. Being that I'am in the gym 4-6 hourse a day, a week worth of battery life really isn't that bad.
