From how they're going about this, you wouldn't think Castro was the one coming off nine losses (as opposed to one for Castillo...)

Castro keeps outworking Castillo, shoveling away to the body. Castillo is rocked back against the ropes, but not in bad trouble. Castillo circles out and lines up his straight shots, landing them over a long sequence to seize control of the middle of the ring. Castro weathers it, and goes back to the body with gusto. Right jabs up top by Castro, ducking under Castillo's left.

Round 6

Castillo is going mad!!! BIG COMBO!!! LOTS OF PUNCHES!! CASTRO TRAPPED ON THE ROPES!! He won't go down...or even back down!! Castro answers back!!! Uppercuts doubled and tripled up by both men!! Vicious exchanges, with nary a pin's breadth between them. The ref is keeping the action clean, forcing them apart when the shoves and leans outnumber the punches. Castro whips out a right to the body. Castillo telegraphs a big left hook. Five uppercuts by Castillo! Castro weaves through, rolling his head around, and tags Castillo with a left hand! Castro is bashing his way forward, driving Castillo back across the ring with those left hands! Castillo tries to catch Castro on the way in with an uppercut but his timing is just slightly off. Castillo misses an overhand right backing up.

Round 7

They're just going at each other!! Castro keeps slugging away to the body! Castillo is trying to harpoon his skull with a 1-2, but getting outhustled!! Both landing big shots! Castillo forced to buckle down and do some labor!

Round 8

Castillo opens up with a quick combo, six straight punches. Castro ends it with a big looping left to the jaw, sending sweat flying off Castillo's head. Castro keeps forcing the action, pushing Castillo back and covering up when he flurries back with straight punches.

Round 9

Castro is all over Castillo, flapping away at him and keeping him on the ropes. Castillo tries to open up with precise straight combos but doesn't have room to operate. Castro is atop him with that right jab, and numerous whacks to the body.

Embarrassing if Walter loses to a journeyman, but we do have a theme running tonight..:yep

 

Round 10

Castillo is turning back and forth between southpaw and orthodox, jabbing with whichever hand is in front up close to try and gain an edge. Castro is staying steady in his native southpaw stance, and beating Castillo to the punch with it consistently no matter what look Castillo is giving him. Body shots by Castro. Castillo starts to find his 1-2, zipping it along the top of Castro's head. Clinch. Castro works the body on the inside. Big shoe-shine flurry building from body to head by Castro.

Walter Castillo

 

Main event.

 

Round 1

Rueda is circling and hooking at Briceno. Rueda is first with his jab, and landing some flurries to the body. Briceno is just a touch slower than "Rapidito", and isn't looking very sharp to start off. Good two-way action at the bell.

10-9 Rueda

 

Round 2

Rueda is twisting himself to either side, constantly turning Briceno and staying off his jab. Body shots and cuffing hooks by Rueda. Nothing effective from Briceno.

20-18 Rueda

 

Round 3

Briceno looks slow and old (which, at 34, he is for a super flyweight). Rueda is jumping in with left uppercuts, brazen as you please. Briceno tries to catch him with fishing-rod right hands but they're just too damn slow. Rueda is getting everything he wants. Body shots. Jabs to the face. Leaping hooks. Easily spotting & blocking all of Briceno's offense. Rueda is starting to really dominate. If his work was a bit tidier it might even start to pique the notice of Briceno's corner as a potentially risky situation. As it is, even missing every other shot Rueda has Briceno on the back foot and looking lost.
