It looks like we do have one last "upset" brewing tonight, even though Castro got screwed. :happy

    Round 4

Rueda snipes at Briceno with accurate lead rights, covering up and putting up an arm tent before Briceno can respond with his slow overhands. Rueda reaches under the guard and lands some body shots, then puts a pesky jab in Briceno's face. Tomahawk right hand by Rueda has Briceno looking stunned and hopping back on one leg toward the ropes. Briceno recovers and pushes in against Rueda. Slow left jab by Briceno misses and is countered with a rainbow right by Rueda.

    40-36 Rueda

    Round 5

Briceno backs up, has his head snapped back by jabs, leans in, halts Rueda by shoving against him a bit, lands a soft uppercut, and then gets muscled back for the whole pattern to repeat. Rueda plugs away to the body. Briceno misses a few jabs sliding his feet back as Rueda overreaches with a left hook, also missing. High jab to the guard by Briceno, then dipping down and going for a sneaky left hook. Briceno is trying to find creative ways to neutralize Rueda's hand speed advantage, with timing and shot placement. It's kind of working. Rueda is warned for a butt as they grind together. 1-2 by Briceno.

    10-9 Briceno

    49-46 Rueda

    Round 6

Briceno is down to his knees, slip. Rueda flurries to the stomach. He is warned again for leading with his head. Briceno throws a few wide left hooks, some at the body. Rueda rolls up into a ball and pitches himself through Briceno's swings. Briceno strikes out as Rueda gets inside and works the body. Uppercut by Briceno misses as he backs up. 1-2 to the guard by Briceno, having his shots knocked aside with little flicks of the glove by Rueda. A bit of grinding together. OHHHH, Briceno down!!! Left hook had him crumpling fast!!

    Saved by the bell!

    10-8 Rueda

    59-54 Rueda

    Round 7

Briceno throws some weak uppercuts to the guard. Rueda pushes him back with jabs, while slipping Briceno's with some idle turns of his head. Briceno is just so slow. Rueda lunges with an overhand right and falls in, nearly face-planting. There is not a high level of skill on display in this ring. Briceno loads up a few more uppercuts, and keeps missing badly. Clinch. Wild left and right hooks by Rueda. Briceno circles around to his left, hands low. Very slow overhand right by Briceno, his fist landing harmlessly against Rueda's back as the younger man ducks down and goes for the body.

    10-9 Rueda

    69-63 Rueda

    Round 8

Very slow pace. That would seem to favor Briceno, but it's still Rueda getting the better quality shots in as they swipe at each other with hooks while circling at mid range.

    10-9 Rueda

    79-72 Rueda

    Round 9

Briceno was able to hurt Rueda with a right hand as the pace slows even more. Rueda might be gassed. He's resorting to spitting his gum shield out to buy time, and then "dropping" it as he goes to scoop it off the canvas. Oops, that's going to take another 10 seconds to pick up...

    10-9 Briceno

    88-82 Rueda

    Round 10

Rueda leans forward and thrusts his forearms into Briceno, steering him around the ring. Both men ***** away at the body, but neither is finding many clean head shots. Rabbit punch by Briceno. Tired flurry by Rueda.

    98-91 Rueda

Good win for Rueda; and a good night of fights. Always nice to watch designated opponents do their level best to alter the script, and this card had more than one example of that. :good
