Their fighters seem to be doing really well at the moment (with Nick Ball leading the charge) and the head trainer seems a decent bloke. I’d not heard too much about them until the last year or so. Has the gym been around long?
Been around for as long as I can remember. Mainly an amateur gym but has the pros training there. Like the Rotunda has with Joe McNally. It’s certainly not one of these money making, Jack of all trade, modern poser ones that are everywhere now. Proper old school ABC. Goes under the radar because it’s sandwiched between the Rotunda and the Solly which are the most prestigious and successful. Seen Paul Smith have a dig at Joe Gallagher I think on Twitter. Saying good to see trainer not taking any limelight. Have it on good authority Ball is defo fighting Dickens.
They've got that Jadier Herrera haven't they as well? McGrail, there is a heavyweight there who is meant to be good as well
Very good and long standing amateur gym, the McGrails, Nick Ball and Cain all there from a very early age, old spit and sawdust gym when we were down there. Paul Stevo put the hard yards in over the years and reaping the rewards now, a boxing man for sure
Have been impressed by how he runs the corner. way he instructs his fighters etc. Everyone around this gym seem no nonsense, professional and disciplined.
Yeah good coach for sure and the advantage of having them from young is theres an in built respect and discipline, cool head and clever boxing brain, fair play to him
Same. TNT got him in for an interview after Cain's win at the weekend and you could tell he wanted it all to be about the fighter.
Not in recent times, ERT have been smashing it amateur and pro. I think Paul Stevenson just became the first and only Liverpool born trainer to train a bona fide world champion.
