Fury vs AJ is still the biggest fight in boxing today. For the fight to be made possible - AJ MUST win in the rematch against Usyk. Not only does he have to win, but he has to win in spectacular fashion (like scoring a KO inside 6 rounds), to redeem some of the luster he's lost with his now 2nd loss. There are many reasons to want Fury/AJ for undisputed: - It's the biggest fight in boxing today - It's the biggest British fight in boxing history - It's a big money fight - It's a global attraction (meaning more interest in a dying sport) - It has celebrity interest - It attracts casual fans (who, contrary to popular belief, are needed & very beneficial to boxing) - It will be the first undisputed unification between two brits There are many more reasons why this should be the fight everyone wants to see for undisputed over Usyk & Fury. The clash of styles is also better - making it a better fight stylistically. Those that want Fury/Usyk are doing it from a selfish POV, their dislike for AJ, & their fanboyism for Usyk. They would rather sacrifice what would be good for the betterment of the sport, for their own selfish satisfaction...
Usyk/Fury is better. I've always loves watching the clinical masterpieces that pure boxers can show. Its interesting to see the tactics both Usyk and Fury would employ against eachother Joshua/Fury isn't exiting. Thats a forgone conclusion
Who wanna see that? Joshua's heart ain't big as a mustard seed and his chin is pure china. Usyk will give him the fight we deserve to see but AJ is gonna fold like a cheap suit.
Most fans want two undefeated supreme boxer talents to battle it out, men who have appear almost impossible to beat in last few years, instead of man who has lost 2 of last 4 fights & quit against fat Mexican. But if AJ wins v Usyk 2 he will get the fight for undisputed no complaints.
Why should I want that if AJ can't beat Usyk? AJ is nothing special, he knocked out a bunch of 40 year olds, though not without getting wobbled by them and that somehow made him the best HW in some people's eyes. He had no idea what to do with Usyk. If Fury has power enough to make AJ think twice about coming in, then he has no chance. He can't win at range, doesn't have a height or reach advantage, and his chin is as bad as Whyte's chin.
If Joshua can avenge his defeat to Usyk, yes, the lustre of this fight would be largely restored to something like its former momentousness. I don't really care which of those two Fury meets for Undisputed, there's something to be said for either bout. Joshua would be a seismic event, Usyk makes a more interesting psychological antagonist and brings the more arcane appeal of a P4P hypothetical fantasy matchup.
A real boxing fan should want the best facing the best end of, regardless of how big the fight is or how much interest it garners in the mainstream. I disagree about the clash of styles. I personally have always thought Fury beats Joshua, he's an even worse style match up for Joshua than Usyk. To me the result is a foregone conclusion. I'm much more interested in seeing how Fury deals with the movement, angles and boxing IQ of Usyk.
Fury is too big for Usyk. Fury would smother Usyk way worse than Wilder and gas him out in 3 rds making him carry his weight.
No, Usyk is way too mobile for Fury to do him that easily. Usyk can move quicker than Wilder and laterally unlike Wilder. He also has 6x better head movement, technically dimensions above Wilder and possess a better gas tank. Usyks movement alone would make an agressive Fury look like a clumsy walrus and Usyk can land counters on such a large target more than you would think. And Cunningham put Fury down and on bambi legs a few moments after than so dont tell me Fury cant be hurt by Usyk
Nah, because I already know who wins. Fury-Usyk on the other hand, intriguing, world class fight in any era and hard to call even for those who do pick a winner. It can't be with great certainty
