Tell you what, you know I think Joy Boy's massively overrated, but that's not to say that above 130 he has no H2H ability at all against other true A classes. He simply has yet to fight a real A class fighter, the closest in DLH and Castillo nearly beat him.

I think Tszyu would be all he could handle, Tszyu excelled against pure boxer types with his counter punching style. But I'd tip Floyd close but clear, don't think Tszyu could stop him.

Taylor would definitley beat him, too much workrate IMO.

See what I mean? His H2H ability over 135 especially is not anything special, that's why I drop him low in the top 100 list, he has a **** resume compared to TRUE ATG's and I just don't rate him well enough over his best weight.

Guys like Whitaker, even DLH, fought some fine, fine A class elite fighters, Floyd's fought none.

People bash me for being pro-Calzaghe and claiming Floyd's resume has no A classes, which is not the same thing as saying it's trash, because it's definitley not, he's a confirmed ATG, but Joe's actually fought a real A class fighter and succeeded at age 35 no less.

About to knock off another one in Dawson.

People who say Floyd should rank over the likes of Toney really need to look at how many A's Toney fought.....:nod

 

How do these guys think he can beat Cotto, seriously?

Cotto is Castillo X3 here and Floyd's declined since the fights against Castillo at 135. Dumbass Floyd nuthuggers who think he's currently an invincible fighter.

 

As you go through the weight classes, the body of fighters we'd favor grows and grows. That is to be expected, but it's crazy for people to think Floyd's unbeatable or damn close to it from 135-140 and especially 147. Let's not even get into 154.

I think highly of his record, title defenses, longevity, talent, and ability to compete at a high level throughout 5 weight classes. But the lack of A level or ATG opponents stands out.

Hopkins, Pavlik, Woods, and Dawson = Top 30-40

Not sure, been getting more into classic ATG's and they have a lot to offer than I overlooked.

I don't think Woods or Pavlik really matter, they are nearly assured wins and just new names for the sake of new names. I kind of have a stranger view of assessing a fighter's ability and I just like to see it vs. the elite.

His win over Kessler for me was the equivalent to 5 Woods or Pavlik level wins, because of the impressive nature and the level of opponent.

Pavlik's going to get destroyed early, everybody knows that. Woods will get man handled, Hopkins is about to get man handled.

So really I just want Dawson, the final 'test' so to speak. I like to see guys really tested at their best by going up against challenging opponents. Dawson presents stylistic difficulties and is an A class.

I give guys credit for beating B classes impressively that have particular styles that trouble them, because that style against them is a form of a 'test' of that fighters ability.

I try to keep the assessment's legitimate, without worrying about overinflated resume's filled with overrated fighters, such as Pavlik and Taylor level non-elite's.

Hell mate, Woods is a better fighter than Pavlik, but nobody will agree. Sad part is that they are nearly the same size also, Pavlik and Woods, Pavlik is HUGE....

He's a LHW that drains down to MW for a distinct size advantage, his power will be nullified against guys really his size.

That win would mean little more than a paper accomplishment of knocking the **** out of the MAN at MW, while stilll holding the SMW crown, that's about it.

I really just don't care about record accomplishments as much as I do man to man combat. Title's don't really even matter.

Say Calzaghe and Dawson went for no championship, fight still means more than Hopkins vs. Calzaghe for that Ring belt.

 

I know its amazing. A prime Floyd at his prime wieght (or there abouts) gets given everything he can handle by Castillo and people think that at 30 years old and 12 lbs above his prime wieght he is going to beat a wrecking machine like Cotto is insane. If this fight ever happens I'll bet the house and be laughing all the way to the bank!
